3-D Credit Cards - what the funk

Tried to reactivate my account today (closed for non-payment even though my CC had enough $$ on it) and I got this message about how Square is now using "3-D credit cards" or some shit. And that they'd need an extra password that I use with my credit card to pay SE.

Not only does this come off as weird phishing, but the Visa link they give isn't even valid. Which is probably a result of awesome webwork over at Visa, since the "Verified by Visa" program FAQ links to the same 404 page when you try to activate whatever this silly program is.

Is this whole thing as weird to anyone else as it is to me? And does anyone know how to actually activate a visa card?

I think the problem with the link is a redirect script. Works in ie but not firefox.

I've been using verified by visa for years, good program if you shop online alot.

I had very similar problem. My pre-paid western union mastercard didn't support the verified thingy. I had to get on web chat with SE and they somehow locked my CC to my SE account. After about 30 min after web chat I was able to pay my late fee and reactivate account. It was pretty painless. Only drawback was it took 1.5 hours of waiting to get a SE rep online.

Forgive me for posting this in this thread, didn't want to necro the original.

I bank with Chase, formerly WaMU, and Neither seems to be recognized by Securecard.com(Mastercard). Searched for both banks for sometime at Securecard.com and found nada.

Am I doing it wrong?
