    Pixel counting?

I'm basically looking for a site or program that will count pixels for me. When I go to MSpaint, I can do a show grid after I blow up a picture, and it will show me pixels, like so

    http://i37.tinypic.com/2jg2hqs.png

But as you can see that'd be a bitch to count freehand. Is there a site or program that anyone knows of that will tell me how many of each color I need? (Planning on making a perler bead necklace of this)

You can do that using Abode Photoshop.

54 x 71 pixels...if that was your question. There's a pretty simple trick to count them "freehand": simply use the ruler and draw a straight line of like 5 pixels then leave a line blank and redraw a 5 pixel line, rinse repeat. Then simply count the segments and multiply by 5...

Was actually looking for the number of each individual color, not the total number of pixels. Have to know how many of each color to order.

Check x y co-ordinates at top left and bottom right of the field you're counting, subtract x and y co-ordinates and multiply them. Co-ordinates should be at the bottom right of ms paint. Boom, done.

edit: nevermind, didn't answer your question.

You could use select color range with Fuzziness set to zero to sample the color you want to count. The use the Histogram Panel to get a count. Mouse over the Histogram to get the count at a specific level. You may want to limit the Channel to which ever one works best ie the green channel.
    Pixel Count : Adobe Photoshop

You'll need Photoshop for this one.

Also, what's the proper way to downsize. That sprite, as it is, is wayyy too huge for necklace material. To compare, I took an ingame pic of my last necklace and checked it in MS paint and it came out to be twice the size twice as many long and twice as many high pixel-wise.

I cut the size in 50% and got my correct proportions of the actual size of my necklace, but then the colors were distorted.

    Left: What I started with
    middle: What I got downsizing
Right: Model I found online for making my necklace

If you notice the middle and right, they match up correctly on pixel count, but the one on the right matches up w/ colors so much better with the orig than the one in the middle.

How did they downsize it like that?

    Found a great counting site

    PerlerPal
enter http://i35.tinypic.com/30cbwub.png as the URL and hit submit (the tinypic is the luigi i posted earlier)

Even sorts to the exact colors of the site i order my beads from (for example cheddar)

Now I just need to figure how to downsize w/o losing proportions. Need in about 50% of its orig height (68 pixels). 34 would be fine as my current necklace is 28 high. 68 though would be too huge for a neck piece.

    What filetype is it?

Chances are they indexed the image then resized it.

    I'll clarify Indexing.

Indexing is when you limit the number of colors in a graphic. By doing so, when you resize it, it won't blend colors and create new ones. I could do it for you as I use photoshop here at work.

Just saw the link to the image.

I attached the resized png into my edited message. Was hoping to do it before you responded. No big.

What program are you using? Photoshop is pretty easy to do this with and it's the one I'm the most familiar with.

If it's photoshop, they likely just turned off the sub-grid thinger for that one photo.
(you can subdivide your grids in Photoshop)

[EDIT] Also changing the grid line from dash to solid black helped also for looks.
