    Shipping international?

Looking at sending something a 2-3 inches long, 3-4 inches high, and about half an inch thick to another country, weighs like a quarter of a pound and I was looking at UPS and it was giving me an estimate of $60 which is kinda wtf.

Does anyone here have any experience with shipping very very small things (would probably fit in a large envelope) internationally? I gotta be doing something wrong to get such a high estimate.

In the UK "UPS" is a special courier (provides insurance, sign upon collection, tracking number) and such so I can only assume sending it internationally from the US = a premium service. (You're talking about UPS with the black trucks right?)

Is there a "local" post office you can go to? Just stick it on the scale, give them your destination, and then they'll give you a quote. This will be shipped using the local/cheap/basic service and will just be together with millions of other post and then sorted upon reaching the country of destination.

yea... I would also like to know the answer to this as well. Ebaying some stuff thats 3inches long, no higher than a cm, and barely weighs anything, but shippers want $20-30 for shipping, and thats double what some of the stuff costs.

usps is mostly cheaper than ups is sending out of country, but it's still an insane price. plus if yo send internationally you can't get any kind of delivery confirmation with them, so screw that.

USPS does international? I figured they were us only, due to the name (United states postal service). Sending one out to someone I know from ingame as a bitrhday gift.

Technically I think they deliver it as far as the plane, and then they use the equivalent when they get to the destination country.

For example, most things would be handled by Royal Mail here.

This is all guess but I think this is how it should work.

Should be able to send it USPS, just add delivery confirmation to it. It's significantly cheaper. Go to your local post office and they'll help you out.

It costs my parents less than $60 to ship me a large flatrate box from Michigan to Seoul, so I'm sure something as small as that would be <$10 via USPS.

Try this website to get a real estimate in case you want an idea before you go to the post office: USPS - International Delivery Services

Ship it with USPS, a lot cheaper.

Size won't really matter too much for UPS/DHL/FEDEX until a point. I've shipped a computer and documents bunch of times w/ UPS and they all cost around 60~

Yes they do now. They have Flat rate boxes that are shipped international. Contact your local branch and order a box. It's that simple at least people tell me it is.
