    FFXI Macro Books auto switching

For some reason, every time I zone, no matter which macro book I am on, it will switch to macro book 1, macro set 1. I've tried multiple different books and different zones, and every time it switches back to the same one. And this isn't a problem due to a windower or something, I tried without the third party windower and it still happens. Is this happening to anyone else? Anyone know what the problem might be? Please help!

A friend also developed this problem & the only way she could find to fix it was to completely uninstall and re-install FFXI! Sorry I don't know of an easier fix!

You could try is to try deleting/restoring your macros.

Browse to C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\USER and find your characters folder, the number of mcr# files equals the amount you have on your character.

Once you find the folder youll see all of your characters saved info, the 3 mcr files, as well as all the mcr# files, are the files you want to back up. So copy them to somewhere else.

Once you have them copied you can do two things. Firstly you can backup your macros by pressing Shift + Alt + Ctrl + B on the character select screen, then exit POL, delete the files from USER, log back in, and then restore the files by pressing Shift + Alt + Ctrl + R, and see if that works.

If it doesnt work, log out, delete the mcr files from USER, and then replace them with the ones you backed up on your PC elsewhere. Log back in and see if that works.

Another thing to try is to again delete them from USER, making sure youve a backup on your PC, and then log in without restoring, and add a few macros to your now empty macro sets. If when you do that, it still switches.. I think you may be SOL. If it doesnt switch that means something in your macros may have been causing it. You can try restoring them again from your backup, and maybe that may fix your problem, you can also replace one by one and see which one is the culprit.

If nothing works, you may have to reinstal POL.
If everything fails aside from erasing all your macros and starting from sratch, you found your answer and will have to recreate all of your macros.
