Any way to find out the name?
in before "buy your own internet" ect.
Not asking about the risks/ect,
just want to know how to figure out the SSID, as it's the best connection near my house and doesn't have a password.

If you can connect to it, go to google/or some site which tells you your IP
Then use that IP on some IP look up, you should be able to find your ISP
If it's the pure name you're after, either the owner hasn't set it or something or it might be masked, a bit unsure on that.
yea it's the name. When you try to connect to it, it says Unnamed Network and asks me to enter in its SSID
Backtrack 4
netstumbler or kismet. google yo
Could try inSSIDer | MetaGeek . I use it to figure out good channels to use for wireless routers, though I don't know if it can resolve network names.
Any other suggestions? As far as backtrack4 goes, I looked up on it a bit and didn't really understand any of it.
