Hay guys, I'll be in LA from dec30 till 8jan with a friend and we will stay his uncle's house, in center of Hollywood.

We'd like to know someone that can advice us something cool to do in the new year's eve: fun partys with girls, and music like OC series (lolTV) or some good clubs!

I'd like to know some "must-see" things in the city too. I know we are just staying there only 8/9 days but we will travel around LA as much as we can!

Any advice or info will be great!!!

Venice Beach for sure, although you're really coming to LA at a bad time for that.

Rodeo drive and Hollywood Boulevard are interesting too if you've never been there before.

Also, the underground just turned to 24 hours the last time I was there about a year ago. Very nice to not have to rely on cabs after hours.

He's staying in Hollywood, there's no way he'll end up anywhere near East LA.

Club scene is bullshit really, waiting in 2-hour lines (probably 4 for NYE) to get into some bullshit club with $12 beers and (most importantly) noone seems like they're having a good time. However, if you must, I'd check out the Edison downtown - it's a club in the basement of a converted turn-of-the-century Edison coal power plant. It has all the trappings of a sweet LA nightlife club in quite possibly the coolest building imaginable for such a thing. Just get there before 9 p.m. so you don't get stuck in a super long line (except for NYE, which is going to be a clusterfuck everywhere).

I enjoy both the WeHo and Downtown Standard hotel bars, Whiskey A Go Go has good music most nights, check out Steel Panther if you enjoy hilarious throwback 80's "metal", check out The Laugh Factory and/or the Comedy Store for some great stand-up (I'm sure someone famous will be performing while you're here), um...

That's about all I've got, I don't go clubbing often.

Thats an idea we had but We should have arrived there on dec 26th but due to job issue we had to delay to dec 30th so, after 15hrs flight, I don't know we will be ok for 4hrs car trip to reach Vegas. Btw we would need some info about Vegas for nye too!

It's worth it. You don't really need info on Vegas, you can just show up on New Years Eve and be guaranteed a good time.

If you've never been to Vegas before, you must go just to experience it. I've been all over and there's really no place like it. Hell I'd go to Vegas over LA anyday, not to mention hotels in Vegas are cheap because of the economy if you book in advance (I got $50/night at the Mirage last winter).

Also I remember going through Compton/South LA for the first time last year... never in my life have I seen so many bars on windows/doors and barbwire fences in a city before. For real. Just glad I was there in the daytime...
