    Steam server browser choking?

This is has something that's been bugging me for the past year since I've had this problem on two separate connections.

Anyways, for anything that uses the steam server browser, I never, ever, get more than 250-300 results, even though I'm well aware there are over 2,000 servers for a particular title (which I confirmed over at a friends place).

I used to think it was something with my software firewall, but turning that off completely did nothing, and I've done all I can with my router to eliminate anything that may be interfering with the listing process, yet I still only get a tiny amount of servers.

Fun part is that while someone on my network is using the server browser, it chokes the net off for everyone else during it thanks to it opening a shitload of connections as shown -

Anyone got any idea of something I can try, or knows of a solution to this? I didn't realize how much of a problem it was until I started getting into L4D2 more and can only ever find a couple servers going at any given time, even when the player count shows 8,000+ people playing online. (and I'm pretty damn sure they're not just hanging out in the main menu doing nothing. Even using the console browser doesn't show much when also including full servers)

For any DD-WRT junkies, I'm running the default values for the majority of the tweakable settings.

i've had this same problem for years now, and i believe long ago i tested it out by plugging my comp directly to modem and it fixed the problem, but unfortunately playing directly to modem isnt an option with other comps and ps3 in the house ;x i've just sorta dealt with it but it would be nice if someone did have a solution!
