Need quick help from those w/ Bose headphones

Bose on ear headphones are very good, but overpriced. Sennheiser headphones have pretty much the same quality for less $.

Honestly, If ever I'd only buy noise cancelling products of Bose. Go for it if you've got extra cash lying around but otherwise, you should consider other brands.

hmmm looking around, found another pair, new (in box) for $99. I don't rly care to buy a bunch of batteries all the time, so I don't think I'll do noise canceling. Which Sennheisers though would you find to be equivalent in sound/quality? The $99 one has 4 days left (and it's a buy now not a bid one) so I have time.

I just got these for Christmas and I love them. Bose is definitely the best when it comes to anything sound related.

Sennheiser hd5xx-6xx series are around the same price but a lot nicer. I've been using HD580's for nearly 5 years and they're still perfect. Had to replace the cables a couple times though... they sell a thicker replacement cable that lasts much longer.

I was looking at some sennheisers just now, wanted to mention that portability is a HUGE factor. I ride my bike 16 miles per day 4 days a week when going to/from school. I was looking at the HD 595 Sennheiser and they were saying it wasn't very portable friendly.

*edit* obviously ignore the top of the list if you're going cheap, but the 1st pair of in ear should be reasonable, and blow away anything Bose can offer.

All the on ears are over twice the price of the particular bose I was looking at and as for the in-ears. I've had over 5 in ears in the past, and they ALL are incapable of staying in my ear. I simply can't stand them. The only thing I can even stand are ones w/ some kind of ear latch to hold on. Like what I'm using now

Cost 10 bucks, and they usually go out every 3-5 months in the left ear. I usually go back, buy an identical pair, swap them, come back in and say they're broken in the left ear, get refund. Have been doing this for at least 4 years now. It's amazing how they never catch on.

ah you said portability was an issue so i figured in ear was more of what you were looking for, but if you look at the $100 Grados, they have a size comparison to a mannequins head, they don't seem to be too large, and Grado is well respected for having great sound quality. but most any over ear headphones aren't going to be too portable friendly.

Well honestly, I don't give a shit about the size. By portability, I mainly mean something that will last and isn't easy to wear/tear, as I will spend most of my time using them on a bicycle, so much exposure to sweat and sunlight ect.

I've got the latest Quiet Comfort ones (15 I think). They were pricey, but way better than my previous noise cancelling earphones. I use them daily at work.

How are the noise canceling ones in quality vs the standard? I read somewhere that the non noise canceling had more detail in sound, but they didn't cancel noise, lol

Well, if you're on a bicycle wouldn't it be better to have some that are not noise canceling? So you could at least have *some* awareness of your surroundings.

I use Shures SE210 for portability; they're about 2 years old. They're in-ear so they don't fall out, the noise cancelling is strong enough to mute out a screeching train on 50% volume, and they sound great. Probably around the $120 on ebay, would recommend then.

edit: whoops, just read the part about no in-ear. STILL WOULD RECOMMEND THEM

Actually, I've been riding w/ headphones for so many years, I am more aware w/ them than w/o. For example, if my battery dies on me, I think to myself "oh hey, if something is behind me, I will hear it" so then I don't feel the need for me to look behind me before I do something. W/ headphones, I am constantly looking at all directions.

I can't compare, but the quality seems good. I wanted comfortable 'phones that canceled noise - work is loud and take a lot of trips on planes. I'm happy with them.

Bose as a company exists for people with more money than sense, who are easily swayed by marketing.

Every. Single. Thing they make is garbage for what you pay.

You pretty much couldn't pay me to use a pair, I'd rather go spend my money than listen to the drek that comes out of their cans.
