    Comp build, double check

A friend of mine need a new computer. I just want to double check with you all too see if everything is compatible and will run fine. And he want to know if the power supply included in the computer case would be enough or if he has to buy another one. He said he's on a $600-$700 budget.

    Thanks!

    - Go with the separate power supply. That will save $20 if you stick with the same style case (I couldn't find the version w/o the window). BTW you don't need a full ATX size case since you're using a mATX board, but the extra room will help keep your machine cool.

    - If you're going AMD try to get a board with a 785G chipset or higher (790GX/X/FX). That would mean switching to this board for $10 more.

Beyond that everything looks fine, tho I would definitely find a way to get a larger hard drive if he plans to do any serious gaming or music/video torrenting.

Pick something other than a 5670. It gets about the same/a little less performance than a 8800GT for the price of a 4850.

Either pick up a 4850 or a GTS250. They will give you better performance for pretty much the same price. There's also this 5770 (it's 512MB not 1GB): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814131328 $130 with that $15 off code.

    ------
Edit: Oh and don't pick a Caviar Green for an OS drive... it's going to feel sluggish. The 500GB Samsung F3 should be the exact same price, I'd suggest that also.

This case would be a good swap, imo. It's around the same price. Coolermaster Centurion 5

That video card will be a huge bottleneck to that awesome setup you've got going. I would suggest getting at least an ati 4870 with that build.

I was thinking along these lines as well but wasn't sure which direction to go.. The 48xx series cards will be coming down in price fast as they go off the market so this is a great suggestion.

Thanks for all the replies, my friend will take the new case, power supply, HD and the 4870 probably. I knew it was a good idea to ask here
