    Upgrading CPU

I am thinking about upgrading my CPU. I have an Asus P5Q Deluxe mobo. See here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...k=p5q%20deluxe

At the moment I have an E7400 for my CPU. See here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...5206&Tpk=E7400

Interested on thoughts of upgrading to a Quad core and which one people think is good!

    Any info appreciated, thanks.

is a pretty good bang for your buck, well one that fits the mobo socket anyway

Hehe, I was looking at that exact one and then the Q9650. I was leaning towards the Q9550 tho. Thanks for the input!

    Anyone else?

    Excellent. ^^ One question solved!

Rather than make a new thread, I have another question.

I was tripleboxing FFXI last night and all 3 instances crashed and Windows said my video card had recovered from something. I didn't check the event log yet, just checked temps and GPU was at 59 C.

    I have a 9800GT See here:http://www.nvidia.com/object/product...9800gt_us.html

I guess I'm just wondering what it means. Can I not triplebox? Do I need to replace/upgrade something else possibly?

Ehh.. multi-boxing taxes the CPU, memory and your internet connection.. it was probably just a memory paging fault. Upgrading the CPU should help a lot with multiple sessions in any case, but if you don't have 4 gigs of memory you should consider that as well.

If you have a microcenter near you I suggest you buy from there. Would be well worth the trip.

Yeah I have 4 GB memory. Which is why I'm thinking a quad core will be nice to upgrade to.

Microcenter I have not heard of so they might not be around here.

*90 miles one way to the nearest Microcenter. =/

I have that same exact motherboard and same exact CPU you are looking at. I like them both a lot.
