How to add 100s of classic games to your wii

I saw a little bit of talk about this in the tech forum, but I don't know if this is common knowledge here yet.

    What you need:
    Wii
    Gamecube controller for some emulators
    SD card
    Twilight Princess disc

On this website you can download a homebrew channel on your wii to load applications and emulators.
NES, SNES, Genesis, and GBA emulators have been out for a while, and recently improved versions or PSX and N64 emulators have come out.

Installing the channel on your Wii is not very hard to do. Installing the channel and the emulators isn't illegal what-so-ever, but obviously if you choose to download copywritten ROMs, that is.
    Check out: WiiBrew
They have a nice FAQ if you have questions.

Currently the playstation emulator can only play a few games, it crashes on FFVII but I believe FFVIII works. I know FF Tactics works, I've been playing that for a bit now.

I haven't tried the N64 yet, but there is a nice compatibility list on the Wii64 page that lists which games work. Seems to be most of the Nintendo released titles (Mario64, Zelda OoT, Majora's mask, etc.)

I usually use ROMNation.NET Roms and Emulators SNES Roms MAME Roms N64 roms for SNES and NES roms, but you may need to torrent PSX and N64 roms.

I'd be glad to help anyone with questions, but I don't check the forums very often during school. Enjoy!

Twilight hack isn't particularly new, and it was fixed in System Menu 4.0. A modified Bannerbomb exploit and Indiana Pwns both work, though.

    I used BootMii.

Problem is that there's the chance of bricking you Wii with any of the mentioned modifications.

Once you get Preloader or BootMii installed there's no permanent chance of bricking.

So what are the actual chances of bricking my wii? And will the classic controller work for these emulated games?

The chance of actually bricking is slim if you follow the instructions exactly and yes all emulators accept pretty much any form of input the Wii is capable of natively.

Unless something tried to modify boot2 of your Wii (if you own the older model where you can do that, unlike the Lu64 Wiis that cannot), such as a Wii firmware update.

Bricking seems to only happen when there is a confusion of regions, like playing an EU game on a US system.

Anyone have experience with Genesis Plus on Wii? I can't get it to run a game. I've tried multiple roms on different downloads of the emulator but the screen goes black when I try to load a rom.

Somewhat unrelated, but has there ever been a good DS emulator released? I have No$GBA, but it seems rather buggy. Just been wanting to give the Valkyrie Profile game a shot, and I guess the FF4 remake.

Wait, so you can play Wii games from the SD card too if you have an iso? I'm lost. Also, where can I get a nice package of SNES games?

Well, There some apps that can run burned games, and an app that can run Wii ISO's from a USB port such as an external HDD.

Main thing I'm waiting on is being able to boot channels via SD card. They have yet to crack that last I checked. Would be nice so I could save some damn space on my Wii.

Space for what? Game saves and channels are the only thing needed on the main memory. VC and WW can be played off of SD.

PS. Most bricking comes from Wii updates. For example, the last update took a lot of people out and bricked their Wii.

You can't put pirated VC/WW games on an SD card, only legit ones

I just have an SD card full of VC/WW wads so I can install/delete things, which works decently well I guess

Well I installed everything and have a library of about 300-400 SNES games and a few other bits of software... the only thing is when I go to load BootMii it seems to hang for a while. Is that normal?

Load Bootmii in the sense when you turn your Wii on?

It defaults to loading the Wii menu up able 5 seconds of inactivity. iirc, on your SD card there should be a bootmii folder, and inside a config file you can edit to change that to either take longer, or not show at all. (there should be comments within the config file that explains everything)

Yea, I don't see the BootMii at all. And no, I mean running it directly from THC.
