    GeForce 8600 GT

I'm almost certain this exact card has been posted about, but I just felt the need to share my wonderful pictures.

    Tech specs:
    Athlon 64 X2 3800+(2 GHz)
    3 GB Ram
    Obviously, GeForce 8600 GT. 512MB
And I altered the background settings to match my monitor's setting of 1280X960(yes, I'm the last gamer in the world still on a 4:3 monitor).
    Edit: XP Home(I know, I know....womp, womp.

    Peep the earring!

    Please halp!

My brother plays on a 4:3 monitor and has the same card. My first guess would be what kind of temps are you seeing when this happens? Which drivers are you using?

I actually have no idea how to check the temperature . I know that's what they suggested is the culprit. Driver: 6.14.11.8250 from 3/27/2009(I installed in a few weeks ago, fyi).

From what I gather, you didn't have the problems prior to the driver version change? You don't say for certain.

I had the same issue with this. I continually changed my cards, hoping to clear it up, but in my case, a certain driver version did make the game playable but didn't clear things up all together. I don't remember the driver number, but it was older.

To fix mine, I had to use a different motherboard. For some reason the mobo and nvidia didn't play nice together. I'd have to look when I get home for more information.

What is your mobo and firmware version?

No it's like off an on. And then the frequency varies. If it only happened once a week, I wouldn't make a thread. These pics are all this week alone.

Board: ASUSTek Computer INC. NODUSM3 1.05
    Serial Number: MS1C68S02601495
    Bus Clock: 200 megahertz

Mad I had to download the Belarc scanner for that info.

I can't find the documentation I used to fix my similar issue.

AGP or PCI E? My old motherboard was definitely an ASUS and I know it was related to that brand mobo and it's bridge between AGP and the motherboard.

probably PCI-e, google and download EVGA precision, it'll have temperature and fan speed monitoring, along with overclock abilities. I had either the 8400 or 8600 that didn't come with a fan, was just passive cooling, and I'd have trouble sometimes after playing. Hooking up an old fan from a cpu heatsink solved my troubles.

    PCI

Alright I'll check that out. For the record, no problems since. Just comes and goes, like Herpes.

PCI rules out what I was dealing with. Fish is right, overheating could cause this, especially since it is intermittent.

Alright new problem, this re: Firefox.

NoScript seems to be FSU. FoD, a Spam page, and another Media thread have all caused my comp to lock when I try to open it, using Firefox. I use Chrome for FB. Also, I got linked to Hulu, and Firefox itself froze...fortunately the whole computer didn't. I just recently wiped the comp, and I never had it freeze this many times in such a short span. So how do I make NoScript not suck? Or is there another Firefox issue to look out for?

Reformat. Or get a new junks.

I had a 8600 shit the fan on me also, but like 3 years ago. I believe I found that the fan was dirty and the bearings wore out to the point that it killed itself, then the card just got hot.
