Disc malfunctioning?
Welp, got to Chapter 9 and got a decent portion of the way through. Was working on Crystarium and the music shut off. Weird, but I continued my path and attempted to switch characters. Screen went semi blank (had the background of the Crystarium), still no music. I sat there for a good 2 minutes before I went up and hit the eject button. As soon as I hit the button, everything came back for 5 seconds before the game decided to eject itself.
Naturally, I was pissed. I dicked around with my PS3 for a minute because it wouldn't recognize the disc that I had just reinserted. I turned it off complete, reinserted disc, started it back up.
Enter the first battle, get a few seconds into it and the music shuts off again. I finish the minute long battle and it just has my characters standing there waiting for the "Battle Report" screen to come up. Again, I wait. I hit eject, game works for 5 seconds, then game turns off because I had hit eject.
Anybody else have this problem? I am raging right now.

Nope, and I've been putting some serious hours into my system and game in single sittings. I have 26hrs in my game from two sittings and I'm (I think) right at the end of chapter 9.
-
I was wondering if it was from overheating or something too but I haven't been playing for THAT long in this sitting either. I kinda think its my PS3...I've cleaned the disc off and still nothing. I will kill somebody if I need to buy a new PS3 the week of FF13/GoW3.

I guess I'll toss this in here even though I don't think it's related, but I have had the music just randomly stop and swap to a different track. While wondering around in some areas with no enemies nearby I've had the music stop and instantly go to the battle music. I've also had the battle music cut out and go to whatever the BGM is for the area I'm exploring. Kinda odd, but like I said I don't think it's related. I do however like it when the latter happens, especially if I'm grinding in a place.
Now that I've said that, inb4 my PS3 blows up.

playing on 360, chapter 7 some of my sound efx dropped during battles.. Like I couldn't Lightning's attacks but I could hear Fangs.. saving and quitting to dashboard fixed it.
Then 10 mins later the game froze...
-
It is possible that the disc is simply bad... and it just happens to be at that section.
I don't think it's overheating or anything since I also put serious time into the PS3 in a row and I never had anything like that happen.

I've been getting something where the screen just flips to black for a split second, then after that its smooth sailing. This only happens right when I start the game

Post contains minor spoilers, be warned.
PS3 Version - 60GB Phat System - Flawless disc, zero imperfections.
The first thing that happened to me was strange, after Lightning ditches Hope and Sazh and Vanille catch up to him, the cutscene was still playing and the character models were moving, but the characters lips were not moving and there were no voices. When the CS ended the game froze.
The second happened just after the battle with the big turtle thing that changes elements. I opened my menu and the only thing that populated was the bottom bar that shows your time, gil, etc. Nothing else loaded, and the clock was still ticking.
Both times I selected quit game from the dashboard and as it's quitting the system beeps and the screen goes black, and I have no choice but to hard reset the system.
