    Check out this XIV Rig

    Bah I need 10 posts to post a URL
    The computer I'm looking at is the Gateway FX6803-25
    I don't know anything about computers and I need one for XIV. What can I expect in terms of performance for XIV and is this a reasonable price for the components?
    -Thanks

    The specs are good, I bet you could save about $300-$400 if you built it yourself though.

    That's weird since the GTX 460 cards run cooler under load than any of the 58xx ATI Cards.

    Under full load while running a few benches, my card got up to 73 max tonight at 52% fan speed. This is the EVGA 1GB GTX460.

    Missing Windows, a faster processor, blue ray drive, input devices, media card reader and the video card is I believe a bit weaker than a 5850.

    granted I would take the 600 paid, ditch the 460 and just splurge on a couple of 470's and step the board up to a x58/i7 based system for true x16 pci-e lanes rather than x8 x8 in sli/crossfire (unless I'm mistaken).

    I'll start with the fact that an X58 chipset would be the only thing that I would personally upgrade, and I may have overlooked some potential X58 board combos accidently, but it probably is worth the extra cash just to futureproof. But lol @ "Splurging" on cards that hit 90c@load and are a much worse value/investment than SLI'd 460s.

    * $150 Radeon HD 5770 costs $7.14 per FPS
    * $200 GeForce GTX 460 costs $7.03 per FPS (768MB version)
    * $220 GeForce GTX 460 costs $7.12 per FPS (1GB version)
    * $200 Radeon HD 5830 costs $7.90 per FPS
    * $250 GeForce GTX 465 costs $8.35 per FPS
    * $290 Radeon HD 5850 costs $8.97 per FPS
    * $320 GeForce GTX 470 costs $8.49 per FPS
    And I don't know who gives a damn about a BR drive in your PC unless you are actually burning BRs to play in another player on a much larger HDTV than your monitor. If your monitor/HDTV is in any close proximity to your PC, you won't need the BR drive anyway. Unless you actually buy BluRays, which leads me to my last point: If you can't torrent W7, then I feel bad for you.
