Deer BG (animal control problem)

So let me start out by saying that I live in a fairly populated section of town (not exactly a suburb though) and live next to the end of a river which acts as a highway for animals, so we get a fair amount of wild life at our place every now and then even though we live far away from the rural sections in town. Now today we had a deer stumble into our yard, and while normally they're very skiddish and bolt off the second you come near, this one doesn't really care and will start walking away, but just returns to our lawn and starts sleeping in the garden. At first I thought it had a broken limb or something, but it's walking perfectly fine and looks healthy so I'm not quit sure it's because it's sick. It is fairly small though and looks like a juvenile, which only makes matters worse. I tried calling animal control and they said that there's already been a flood of calls about deer problems so they're no longer doing anything unless they're injured. So what's the best course of action here? I feel like shit seeing a juvenile deer stuck without it's family and so far away from it's natural habitat

tldr; Have a juvenile deer in our lawn and it won't leave, and animal control won't do anything.

i had a similar problem after hurricane katrina/wilma/whatever. we had panthers scatter around our backyards (ya, panthers. p a n t h e r s), but the animal control here wasnt having it. they're endangered i guess, so they came by and picked them up FAST. but it was through a 3rd party company. not AC themselves. i dont remember the name, but it never hurts to google. maybe they can come by and take a look. if they can rid of deer along i-95 at 12 am around orlando and St petersburg, im sure they can come by and get rid of a deer who takes random naps in a civilian's back yard lol

they told us all to stay in the house and to close all the windows, and not to let any pets out lol. they arent nearly as big as they look on TV, but it SUCKED. after hurricanes, you know... it gets hot without power/ AC, and all in a land where 85 degrees of humidity is a common thing.

Some cities have private animal control companies. Although i've mostly only heard of them in Florida where they deal with exotic animals like alligators that get into residential areas.

I dunno what the laws are with seasons and whatnot in Canada, but if it's a "nuisance" you're generally allowed to kill them even if it's a female in the middle of mating season, in the U.S.

Unfortunately for the deer, that's probably your best bet. If you don't know what the fuck you're doing once you've shot it, though, you should probably look around for a butcher that does game animals before you do it.

Similar to what Richardd talked about, if it's an option for you it seems really likely that there would be a private business that does handling & relocation for deers in your area if it's a considerable problem.

Not that this doesn't sound like the most awesome problem to have aside from the sad parts. Respect to you for your level of concern about this, I hope this works out well somehow.

this is actually the best idea in the thread. There are actually quite a few "anti deer" things you can put in the yard that are safe. Otherwise corn wouldn't exist in this country. I remember when I lived in CT that farmers used to grow a certain kind of plant that deer didn't like the smell of. That's more intense though, but I would imagine they have sprays for it as well.
