    Xbox live NAT issue.

Started playing on xbox again, and I seem to have the NAT switched to strict. This is a new router (Cisco e2000) so i'm having trouble fowarding ports.

My xbox IP address is .106 so I fowarded....

    TCP 80
    UDP 88
    TCP/UDP 3074
    TCP/UDP 53

    all set to .106.

I'm a complete noob when it comes to this, but i've read multiple guides and this looks like a correct setup. Yet my NAT has not changed, and currently cannot play games with my friends. Did I miss something here, or should I use a different IP address?

Why not just put your Xbox in the DMZ? You're console's not really running much that can be exploited over a network connection, and you don't really store personal information on it like what would be on a computer.

I was always under the impression DMZ would be more for setting up one item, but I forgot to mention i'm actually trying to set up 2 xbox's on this router. One is hardwired, the other is Wireless (N if it matters)

Probably a simple question, but the xbox IP is static, correct?

    All my PC/consoles are static.

I have gotten a moderate NAT now........ somehow.

I honestly would just either DMZ the xbox, or use a hub to split the router/xbox directly from the modem, if its possible to hardwire the box in to a hub.

Are both the Xboxes getting strict? I would DMZ the one with the worse off setting.

Also try www.portforwarding.com, they usually have all the ports you need to open for xbl as well as a few other games last I checked.

Well, so far I've gotten the hardwired xbox open. There was a option called "nat rerouting" I've never heard of before. Disabled it, dmz'd the xbox and it's open now.

The wireless xbox is moderate, so I'm just gonna call it a slight win for now.

    Honestly moderate nat isn't bad.

I've had mine go from open to strict all while in my DMZ and have honestly never had problems playing games. At worst it was usually someone in my group couldn't hear me or vice versa

I was going to throw in the 'some routers are just wierd' addition. >_> I've forwarded my ports and tried everything short of putting my 360 into a DMZ and my NAT stays at Moderate. I bought a new router for my girlfriends apartment around 3 weeks ago and i didn't change a thing, bam 360 reads open NAT when I play there, vs my house. Sometimes it's just strange. ._.

Try using just a dynamic IP and UPnP... I get open 24/7 with that. If I gave it a static IP with UPnP though it would go straight to strict.
