Chick-Fil-A to unveil spicy chicken June 7

Chick-fil-A Inc. is headed to the Windy City and will soon debut its first new sandwich since 1989.

The Atlanta-based restaurant chain has begun building three stand-alone restaurants in Aurora, Orland Park and Wheaton, Ill., marking its entrance into the Chicago area.

Chick-fil-A also said Tuesday its has a list of prospective restaurant sites to boost its presence in metro Chicago, with plans to open six more restaurants there in 2011.

“Our fans in Chicago, especially the transplanted Southerners, have been telling us for years they crave our hand-prepared chicken sandwiches, made-from-scratch biscuits, hand-chopped cole slaw and fresh-squeezed lemonade, and we listened,” said Dan Cathy, president and chief operating officer, in a statement. “These loyalists have been loud and clear about their Chicago demands. They have started websites, Facebook and Twitter fan pages and posted YouTube videos as part of their campaigns pleading for us to open in Chicago.”

The Chicago expansion joins recent developments in other major markets such as Southern California, Kansas City, Mo., and Phoenix, Ariz.

In other company news, Chick-fil-A will debut a spicy chicken sandwich on June 7. The sandwich is the first new sandwich the chain has added since introducing the Chick-fil-A Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich in 1989.

Chick-fil-A had more than $3.2 billion in sales in 2009. It has nearly 1,500 locations in 38 states and Washington, D.C.

uh, they already have spicy sandwiches here. its all i get from them. theyre pretty alright

i like chic-fil-a. one of the few fast food places that dont serve diabetes and heart attacks in between hamburger buns and has a good range and variety of healthy sides.

at least most of the stuff, lol. i might check it out. i generally buy and make my own food, but there will be times when im lazy and come here and give it a try, <_>

Chick-Fil-A is pretty much the only fast food place I will eat at. It's loaded in sodium, but that's far better than fat and calories, lol.

I wish Fazoli's was in my city though, that's another awesome place.
