But just to clarify, because only half of the toenail is the way I described, and because it now appears to be completely separate from the bottom part of the nail bed (vertically, it's still attached to the healthy half of the nail), a healthy nail WILL eventually grow and continue to push the dead part up? I have this painful picture in my head of a new nail growing at the base of the nail and pushing up just the dead part, kind of turning it out 90 degrees or something. But if the entire nail grows evenly from the bottom then it should just be fine, provided I leave it and clip whatever dead nail gets pushed up top, correct?
