    Wii - Gamecube homebrew?

I have a softmodded wii, and here's the problem.

I have a copy of SSBM that i've been wanting to get back into, but I can't save anything because I have no Memory card, so I just wanted to download a save to my SD card and put it on my wii, but it turns out you can't do that.

Is there any way I can put a save on my wii without a gamecube memory card?

It's a bit long to explain but, When the game switches to running a GameCube game it doesn't have access to all the features the Wii has. It needs a GameCube Memory Card to work. To my knowledge no softmod will get around hardware limitations.

pretty sure theres a hardmod to do it though, iirc theres a mod you can do by just soldering a couple wires that lets you use the sd card slot for gamecube memory

As others have said the Wii switches to Gamecube mode and disables any devices connected. Can only use things that a Gamecube supports.

Someone on some site i used mention some homebrew that can be loaded in GC mode but i never paid attention to it but supposedly lets you use save on the wii.

I doubt it's real so just go with what everyone says, You're screwed.

Sites down atm but ill look for it. Don't get your hopes up tho, I'm sure if it was real it would be everywhere.

GC Memory Card are just remodeled SD cards, same connectors. While I haven't tried, this makes sense.

Figured I would bump this instead of making a new thread. I currently have my Wii homebrew'd, but would like to see if a Skies of Arcadia Legends iso would work well on it. Also wondering what program to download from the homebrew channel that would work best with this. I'm sure I can find the iso easily on filestube or something, and I read that imgburn is a good program for burning the iso. Any help would be appreciated! Feel free to PM too if you prefer.

Get the latest Hackmii to install the newest HBC, then install a USB loader and put it on a flash drive in WBFS format (just search for whichever one you want, I use USB Loader GX).

It's better than installing a cIOSx, which will stub every IOS with a 65535 (which can't be overwritten by Nintendo updates) and install the ability to load backups from the disc channel.

It's much more prudent, easier, and quicker, to load using a USB loader.

Also, there is no softmod that emulates gamecube cards, because the gamecube loader on the wii is a separate loader than the wii file system and is not interchangeable. You have to have a gamecube controller to play it and you have to have a GC memory card to save.

The only exception to this rule is hardmodding or possible getting a USB gamecube loader (if such a thing exists, I've never searched).

He has to burn a disk. You can't use a USB loader with GC games. I use Neogamma to load my GC backups and Configurable USB loader for my Wii games. Burn them on a slow speed. that all i can say after trashing a bunch of disks by burning them fast.
