    This reminds me

    At Applebee's trivia about a month ago, one of the questions was "The character Howard Roark appears in which Ayn Rand novel?"

    and I was like FUCK because I really should have known it.

    The Fountainhead, aka the only one of her books that reads like a novel and not a string of diatribes borrowed and plagiarized and bastardized from Nietzsche strung together by strained dialogue

    oh and if you think Atlas Shrugged is bad, you should read Pillers of Creation by Terry Goodkind -- that stupid f*ck thought it would be a good idea to plagiarize Ayn Rand after she plagiarized Nietzsche ahahahaha

    man lol, read any passage where he talks about man's ability to create and how no one can take that away from him and BLA BLA BLA BLA

    I am truly to lazy and unwilling to go through that awful piece of writing again to mine for a proper passage but I am willing to bet if you googled Terry Goodkind and Ayn Rand or Objectivism you will get results

    perhaps plagiarize is a strong word but if you've ever had an idiotic argument with your mother after she's read some Oprah Book Club garbage and she is try to spew out what she read but clearly not getting it right and it's useless to argue with her.. that is what reading that book was like for me

    Yeah I'm not impressed with the style, but nothing better atm to read, and it's fun in a light hearted sort of way.

    I've been hearing Bakker's name a lot the past few weeks. Last time something like that happened, I ended up picking up Snow Crash.

    Incomplete series;;;;

    also, since you mentioned a Canadian fantasy author I really gotta big up Guy Gavriel Kay and his The Fionavar Tapestry trilogy (often sold in a single volume as well)

    Seriously can't recommend those books highly enough. Epic story plus actual characterization, I've reread them about a hojillion times.
