Will my 1v1 even out soon?

I somehow got placed in low gold after my placement matches. (3 wins against total noobs, 2 devastating losses against much better players than I)

So far I just keep getting it handed to me by players far outside my current skills.
I think I should be a silver player at my best and a bronze player on the norm and more matches will of course fix this.

My roommates who I 3v3 with are good and teaching me a lot, I just don't get a good chance to practice it in 1v1.

TL;DNR - How often do you have good later game matches in 1v1?
Either my initial push stomps a woefully hopeless noob, or some micro managing pro runs circles around me probably laughing the entire time, I'm yet to find players at my level.

Pick your favorite race. Learn some openers, and practice practice practice. Some openers are pretty fantastic even against other pro players. Learn to scout. When you know what your enemy is doing, you can counter. Games are decided in the first 5-9 minutes. Everything that happens after that are bullshit skirmishes, loser not knowing they have lost, or them hoping to get lucky.

Running around you? When you hold shift, you can queue action. That's probably what they are doing to run in circle for a long time, while managing their base.

Being in gold league doesnt matter much when it come to picking your opponent. If you have good stats in silver league, you will play against plat/diamond all the time, and the opposite is also true. You will be dropped eventually, but it probably wont change much.

Anyway, for starter, there is a few thing you need to keep in check
#1 Control the economy: You will want to have more harvester than your opponent. It's simple, but if he makes more money, he will make more units, and you will end up losing more every encounter. So, whatever you do, don't let your opponent get ahead (more expand, more worker)

#2 Control the map: Once you figure out your opponent movement and army, going for the hard counter is usually a matter of seconds. It requires a certain knowledge of the unit but you get that fast. To control the map, scout with a probe, use xel naga tower, keep your opponent army locked in a small section of the map...

#3 watch replay if you get obliterated, and try to figure out why (bad economy, wasted unit for no reason, your opponent had a better counter?)

Thanks! Working towards getting all those under more control. I guess I thought more games were supposed to be decided more after 20 minutes than 5-9.

I like the shift queue and use it when I can. I didn't mean literal circles, just that I seem to play against people severely outmicroing me a lot. Kiting just to name one.

Try practicing against some computers, just get the feel of the timing down for making smooth transitions from one stage of the game to another, for instance having close to/exactly 250min/100gas when your stargate finishes (for a void ray), or having 150 minerals right when your gateway finishes for a cybercore, just getting used to when it's appropriate to expand and when it isn't

once you have that stuff down a little more try and get used to the feeling of not having a lot of unspent resources, it sounds sort of ridiculous at first, but honestly having like 2000 minerals and 750 gas when you have two bases is useless, and i see my bronze/silver league friends do it way too often, if you can just spend spend spend during the midgame when timing pushes become a little more blurred you'll be in a lot better shape

Try to practice 1 Macro thing and 1 micro thing in game until you have one of those down so that they feel natural.

The biggest hole Ive found newer players failing at it NOT spending their money. If you get into a micro intensive battle; they will completely forget about rebuilding units they've lost. If you don't win a battle(large or small) and they counter into your base there are plenty of people who have 2k minerals/gas and NO UNITS! They simply cant build fast enough to stop the counter. Even mid battle macro up some units.

    Assuming this is you OP:

    http://www.sc2ranks.com/char/us/928811/Xami

You're winloss should be around 50% as that's what the system aims for ( obviously if you're very good and at the top of the ladder it will be more ) otherwise you're going to have a hard time breaking 55-60% even.

tldr version: If you get to 100 games and your winloss is not +- 5% of 50% then you get to complain

i think he's more concerned with the fact that he either stomps his opponent or his opponent stomps him and that he hasn't really had any opponents that are at his skill level instead of way below or way above it

The better your opponent get, the longer the match last usually. Everyone become hyper conservative with their units, and you wont see stomping early on. It also give you more time to tech for templar, infestor and other units that can turn a match around...etc

Play computers! before I played one match online, i needed to beat a computer hard. I am rank 5 in my silver league because all i do is practice practice practice! ask some friends to send waves of units at you to see if u can counter them by scouting, i did this with my brother and he got better a lot faster.

Just decide different stratagies and adjust it as you go but I like keeping the core the same. Ex. You play terran and u roll MMM, later you can add seige tanks to the mix. These small adjustments can go a long way.

I could have bought an 11 pull and have 1000 gems left over, but all I got was this silly title.

Slight derail but I was doing 2v2 random team because I got bored. Placement matches sucked. One match I called 2x 9pool in zz v zz. Ally didn't get 2 spines out fast enough and got econ stomped.
Another my ally didn't build a single thing till pylon @ 90 sec. By that time had stalkers with blink harassing without any backup.

Since placement I have been stomping in bronze. It has gotten kinda stupid and I wish it took into account your own contribution to the win/loss instead of an absolute. Only thing good to come out of this is that I can practice my macro/micro and early scout to get into the habit about it. Surprisingly not many rushes. Caught a guy void ray teching and raped him with an MMM drop on his mineral line while his ally was caught outside his wall.

I had epics 2v2 placement match yesterday. In one instance, my ally left after 30 sec (good thing since he was bottom bronze). I manage to build both base and won the games 20 minutes later doing marauder balls mixed with banshee harass

Getting out of bronze shouldnt be too hard. Nearly every cheese works, and you will be able to take out both opponent out of the game more often then not

Yep, I was definitely shafted by placement. After a 1-4 placement, went 9-1 and just shot up to silver. I was getting bored at how easily some people died. Also helped a ton that whenever I won, I got 40+ points and the loss only cost me 4. I think the only hard win I had I risked rushing voids and I forgot to get detectors vs banshees. But my 1 carrier + ally DT swooped in to finish it off.
