    Annoying Windows USB Message

So randomly my computer started giving my messages about a USB device not being recognized and it keeps telling me to reconnect the device. But other than my keyboard, mouse, and external I have no USB devices plugged in. They all work fine and I've tried unconnecting and reconnecting them all. Windows is detecting a malfunctioning device that doesn't exist and the error messages are really annoying and so is the incessant beeping

Anyone have ANY ideas on this or at least how to make Windows pop ups stop and how to stop the stupid beeping

    Device driver error maybe?

Check your device manager and see if any of your devices has a little "!" in a triangle mark next it.

Also what version of windows are you using?

There is an unknown device that shows up with the error in the Device Manager... but it doesn't exist in physical reality. Only three things are pluged into my USB ports and they are all fine and listed in other places. And Windows refuses to stop telling me about this ghost device that has an error. I have even disabled it on device manager but I still get messages on the task bar. I tell it to hide notifications from Windows explorer but they still pop up.

    This is Win7 Pro

Looked around on the web and found this site.
    http://www.online-tech-tips.com/comp...ot-recognized/

Try physically unplugging your PC from the Power supply and then plug it back in.

The guy on the site said it worked for him.

Depending on if you bought your computer from a manufacturer (Dell, HP, etc.) or you built it yourself, some USB ports/Memory card adapters/screens/lights are recognized as devices. If they failed, aren't plugged in properly, or not installed right, you will get this error message.

Also, if your USB 'Hub' that's installed into your PC case for additional USB ports, if there's a bad port on it, the device can't get sufficient power, and will give you the not recognized error as well. (In your case that's not true)

Before I give you advice, what kind of computer is it? And is your Windows 7 Professional 32x or 64x?

The unplug thing worked oddly enough. Thanks.

(It's a custom built 64-bit system btw... People still use 32 lol?)

Ok it's back. The sound only though, no more pop up messages from the taskbar...

Is anything showing in the device manager with the ! and yellow triangle? You said you built the computer yourself, does the motherboard support usb 3.0 and if it does, did you install the driver for that?
