    Computer Case help

I'd like a little advice on purchasing a PC case.

I'd like to get one that won't sound like a jet engine but provides more than adequate cooling, and one that can provide a lot of functionality with out all those pretty lights and fancy looks. Price should be within reason. I'm looking now myself, but would like people's opinions and personal experiences.

I know there are those open air cases, but I don't wanna spend money on compressed air every week to dust that shit.

HAF cases are amazing but they can get dusty due to how much air those giant fans suck. Did you want or not want the lights?

Have the full tower version, love it. it's a bit on the more expensive side, but i find it absolutely worth it.

sorry to partially hijack - i've been holding up a new build for this exact reason, i can't pick a good case. i was looking at the cooler masters and they do look pretty great, but i've also had this one sitting in my shopping cart all weekend:

Thermaltake Armor A60 Gaming Mid-Tower Chassis With Cable Management Water Cooling SSD Support And Tool-Less Installation ... ($89.99)

what i really wanted was the orange/dark orange cooler master 690 II listed on cyberpowerpc.com's configurator, but they won't sell me just the case. i emailed sales directly and was told i need to build a whole system, which i'm not going to do. i can't find those colors anywhere else so i'm assuming they do it in-house (and for $18 i'd have no problem paying for the paint job)... anyone have any experience with these?

I saw that site www.cyberpowerpc.com and there is some cool stuff on there, but I would really like to get one of those digital readout screens like you see on the front of this: http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/C..._Configurator/

Where do I get one of those? and what are they called?

i bet those are cool too. that site is really annoying me as i can't find a bunch of the stuff on there by itself, it'd be some guaranteed sales for them...

    SSD Support
lol. Flat surface + duct tape = SSD support. You don't even need to put them in bays.

The HAF case is nice, I personally like Coolermaster and Antec, both make great cases. The Antec 900 II is a solid case with a great layout and great airflow http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129058 but like the HAF case, it has some LED lights.

If you want no lights whatsoever and just want a standard looking case with good airflow, I would recommend the Antec 300 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129042 It's cheap at only $60, has a 5 star Newegg rating out of over 2000 votes, no lights, quiet and good airflow with a perforated front with air filters.

OR, you could just get the HAF or Antec 900 II and get rid of the LED lights yourself.

    I bought this recently: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817997007

Love it. Have 2 SSD's in Raid0 on that, a velociraptor, and a 7200rpm storage drive all in one bay on my antec1200.

ordered a lian li pc-7fnw yesterday and will just cut the front fan LED.

didn't get the total black version because i actually prefer an aluminium look of the insides better than all black. also, it's 100bucks cheaper here than the all black version. if you want top fans, you could go with their 50.

as mentioned, aptec 18* series are also top if you prefer classic/slick looking cases. or you could turn 180° and get a really outstanding case like this one (nzxt phantom)

    Here is the digital readout:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-004-_-Product

    Case wise:
    HAF922
    HAF932
HAF X (Prtty much 932 with black inside)
    Antec 900/1200.
Look at Antec's DF-85 too and similar series, they have nice cases. Antec and Cooler Master are good brands.

    DF-85

I actually wish I had bought this a while back instead of the 932.

Wow, OK, I've found my next case lol. Didn't even know this existed so I'm glad you posted it, thank you! I was intending to roll with a 1200 when I rebuilt, but this is so much better. I especially like the flip open fan bays and removable filters cause the bays and the insane amount of dust that gathers is annoying as all hell on my 900. $160 at Newegg not on sale and no rebate or anything so I imagine could probably snag it for ~$120 if you were patient. Only thing I dislike about it is the red LED's, but there are ways of fixing that. I wonder if they put a switch to turn the LED's off since I'm sure that had to be like the #1 complaint from the 900/1200 series was the bright ass lights in peoples dark rooms at night, and they were bragging about fixing all the things people bitched about. XD

Fuck I bought a 1200 a week ago and now want to change lol

edit: looking closer, I think I'd perfer the 1200 if I had them both sidebyside, so I made a good purchase.

A friend had one of these with four vantec 80MM fans. Ultimately what caused my parents to renovate the garage into a LAN room..
