So apparently Panasonic is tryign to re-enter the console market (as if the 3DO wasn't enough of a letdown lol):

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget....10/jungle2.jpgApparently Panasonic has been working itself into a frenzy over a new handheld video game console designed solely around the concept of taking MMORPGs with you everywhere you go -- like you weren't already wasting too much of your life. The makers of the ill-fated 3DO are returning to the gaming world with a portable system dubbed "The Jungle." The clamshell device will allegedly sport a super high-resolution display, features a full QWERTY keyboard along with what looks like a touch sensitive d-pad and button arrangement, and may run atop a custom Linux build. The Jungle will also apparently sport a mini HDMI port, a micro USB port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. To our eyes, the system looks a little on the clunky side, with a definite air of something out of Nokia's N-Gage line -- not a good thing for a 2010 device. Alongside the system itself, Panasonic will launch a Battlestar Galactica title for the device, and a web show called Online Underground.
We're digging up more details right now, but the company (actually an offshoot of Panasonic called Panasonic Cloud Entertainment) has already set up shop with a site and a few teaser videos. I dunno, looks kinda neat if you're trying to play WoW while driving or at the mall or something lol. I've definitely owned enough failed consoles (Jaguar, Game.com) that I'm a little wary of this, especially until I see how well it runs/displays games.

it looks like an ngage mixed with an old model DS lol... And not having a touchscreen is the kiss of death.
Unless this thing can run WoW/Aion/FFXIV perfectly (and costs less than 200 dollars) I doubt anyone will ever buy it.
Unless, of course, you can mod it to work as a PMP and emulator, in which case people might have a nice alternative to the Pandora assuming there's an established homebrew community at some point. The fact that it runs linux makes it seem slightly more likely, as Dingoo development really exploded after Dingux was released.

it looks bulky, some devices look really sleek and deceptively smaller than they are, this just looks clunky as shit

Well, I guess a more appropriate term would be how "fat" it looks on the shoulder buttons, and with the position of those and the D-Pad it looks sorta awkward to hole. Then again I have big hands so that could be it.

Either a) the wifi will suck, b) the 3g will suck and have no service anywhere, c) itll be super bulky, d) it won't support any of the actually popular mmos, or e) it will cost way too much. Gonna have to see if it can save itself in a tech demo.
