MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Opponents plan to march this month to protest construction of a new Islamic mosque in this Middle Tennessee town.
"The people have spoken clearly that they don't want this mosque proposal that is before them," march organizer Kevin Fisher said Friday.

It seems the anti-mosque protesters in California have torn a few pages from the Abu Ghraib field manual. Protesters of a planned mosque and Muslim community center in Riverside County, California are calling on locals to come to a rally outside an existing mosque with their pet dogs because, as the protest organizer says, Muslims "hate dogs."

As the Valley News of Fallbrook reports, the leader of the anti-community center rally -- who the paper does not name -- has "been active with Republican and Tea Party functions" in the past. Recently, the activist distributed an email to area media outlets calling on those opposed to the construction of the Islamic Center in Temecula to come to a "one-hour 'singing - praying - patriotic rally'" July 30 at the site of the town's existing Islamic center, which local Muslims are trying to replace with new construction.

The leaders of the Muslim group want to turn the house they bought out of foreclosure into a prayer center and food pantry. Neighbors like Wiley want the group to stop using the house for anything other than a residence until the county decides whether to allow a different use.

Racial and religious tensions are flaring in Sheepshead Bay over plans to build a mosque on a residential street.

Opponents say the mosque will lead to traffic and noise problems - but their complaints are littered with anti-Islamic attacks, like one letter to elected officials that said "mosques and Muslim schools preach hatred."

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Although the deal has been taken off the table, non-Muslim community members rallied in front of a former Midland Beach convent yesterday to support those who had hoped to build a mosque at the site.

Holding signs that read "Shame on the Archdiocese," "Bigots, Racists and Haters... Go Home" and "Islamophobia? No!!," the around 30 protesters outside the building owned by St. Margaret Mary R.C. Church said the day was about freedom of religion.

The rally was organized by Elaine Brower of Great Kills and Devra Morice of New Springville. They explained that the rally was scheduled before the July 21 decision by the church's board to cancel the sale of the convent to the Muslim American Society.

"Jesus hates Muslims," they screamed at worshippers arriving at the Masjid An-Noor mosque to prepare for the holy week of Ramadan. One protester shoved a placard at a group of young children leaving the mosque. "Murderers," he shouted.

Police arrived on the scene to separate the groups, but said no arrests were made.

Flip Benham, of Dallas, Texas, organizer of the protest, was yelling at the worshipers with a bullhorn.

"This is a war in America and we are taking it to the mosques around the country," he said.

Members of a church in Gainesville, Florida are planning to commemorate the anniversary of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 by burning Korans. The "International Burn A Quran Day," is just the latest in anti-Islamic protests that the Dove World Outreach Center holds each year on 9/11.

"The goal of these and other protests are to give Muslims an opportunity to convert," said the church's pastor, Terry Jones.
The church stirred up controversy last year when in July, they put out signs that read "Islam Is Of The Devil," which is also the title of the pastor's book.

I am saying if you are going to make christians look bad using a few bad churches as examples, then you need to do the same for muslims. But you never will. You are an american and christian hater.
