Lost items due to a full inventory

I'm sure I'm not the only person this has happened to. I submitted a bug report stating my case that it should at least go into the loot pool first. The form bluntly states that I probably won't get a response. Has anyone else been able to recover an item or am I sol?

Was the item lost a leve reward? If you touch the Aetheryte and try to start another leve (after clearing your inventory) you will get unclaimed rewards.

The game really should give you a message about that when you fail to obtain the item.

XI did a fine job of saying your inv was full when you earned a quest/mission item. It even says where to go to get the item when you sort your inv.

Only if you already know where to pick up the item, which you will after posting a thread like this one or randomly discovering it after thinking you lost it. It's all about making the game more user friendly for new players.

I understand your problem was concerning a guildleve item, but for reference, regular drops I'm fairly certain -do- go to your loot pool even with a full inventory. My friend had a full inventory and almost lost an 80k item but he deleted some things just before his loot list items went to him.

How does loot distribution work anyway when it's in the loot list? Everything seems to distribute at once, which means some things stay in there longer than others. I always fear something is going to end up in my loot list and then distribution occur seconds afterwards before I can drop stuff.

Everyone appears to have their own separate loot list. Shards, crystals are given to everyone after the battle. Items on the other hand can appear in the loot lists of anyone in the party. Appears to be "round robin"-ish but not really. You can also choose to distribute items from your loot list to anyone in the party.

For now, I suppose it works.. but this could be weird come end-game? No.

Yeah but I was referring to how it works when solo on a full inventory.

I agree the party inventory mechanics will cause issues at end-game however.

Not a comment on the OP, but another warning:

This is exactly what happens when you obtain an item from crafting and your inventory is full. Then you have about one minute to cancel crafting and making space before the item you just created gets lost.

It's really only a minute? I thought crap stayed in the Loot pool for a good 5+ minutes.

I didn't watch the clock, but it's what feels like a minute. My experience might be lag distorted.

Oh, when you're full it goes into your loot pool and stays there for 1-2 minutes before it gets tossed (if you dont have space). They get /tossed from top to bottom of the list iirc.

It's a timer of some amount, and longer than a minute. However, each item doesn't appear to have it's own timer as they did in XI. My feeling is that the first item to hit your list starts the timer and when that runs out it dumps everything in your list to your inventory, and you lose whatever doesn't fit. Also, when you are mining and such if your inventory is full the things you mine will go to your list, but if you already have said item in your inventory it is smart enough to add to that stack rather than put in your loot list. Once it is in your loot list though, you cannot 'distribute' it to your bag onto a stack the same way.

This is what I was talking about earlier. If the first item starts the timer like that, surely it's possible that items could be lost within seconds before you have time to sort inventory. It's definitely a case of everything being dumped at once, I've never had my loot list stay partially full after a distribution.

When mining I normally finish off that node before sorting inventory. Maybe I shop stop straight away, sort inventory and then pick up my axe again.
