That video is precisely why olbermann is useful. He rallies the base. He angers republicans and conservatives.

I do sincerely hope that liberals do find a way to force the Democrats. The way the game works right now is that the Democrats don't really feel they have to take their base seriously.

The liberals have no teeth because even the President they elected refuses to deign to even the slightest of their requests. I've given Obama the benefit of the doubt for a while now, but as it stands he currently doesn't have my vote in 2012 unless he starts baring his teeth towards the Republicans.

He kind of did actually. In the same speech were he was being a condescending dick to liberals. It's just that he always feels the need to temper his criticisms towards the Republicans by also including criticisms of liberals in there or just not specifying who he is critizicing.

The thing that bothers me is that he's definitely not blind or deaf to these criticisms of his policies, and yet he's become even more steadfast towards remaining in the middle, compromising/conceding to the GOP, and providing very little in the way of his campaign promises. Guantanamo Bay is still open, the rich got their tax cuts, gays still can't join the Army, and we didn't get our public option. This is the guy that people called a socialist the last 2-3 years?

    Not people. Republicans.

And yes, he is rather dissappointing. Not so much if you study his actual policy achievements, but in the way he has presented his policy achievements and his ability to accomplish policy that received the most media attention.

His inability to manipulate public perception outside of his campaign for election is an eyesore.

His inability to handle the Republicans is also quite pathetic.

Olbermann once called out my company and the very department I work for. It made me very sad because he accused us of buying legislators. he also pronounced the name of my department wrong

That's a good point. He has had many accomplishments, but most of the general public is unable to identify them. I think this is the fault of the President and his administration. The comment Olbermann had from that one person that "they didn't read the details" -- shouldn't Obama's people be responsible for creating soundbites that Americans can easily understand and digest? To the Republican Party's credit, they have been wildly successful at obfuscating Obama's wins and highlighting his losses.
