Looking to buy a new headset or head phones.
Willing to spend $100-150 unless spending more is actually justified.
Going to use them for mostly music/gaming so quality is important obviously.
Thank you.

I'm currently using sennheiser HD555, a solid headphone, awesome quality. I bought Asus Xonar STX sound card to go along with it, best decision ever.
I went through $50 dollar headsets at a rate of about 1-2 times a year and they generally had pretty shitty build quality. Logitech was the biggest offender for me. They would constantly short out at the base of the headset or some other stupid issue would come up.

I eventually bought these Sennheisers and haven't looked back since. The little clip on the volume control where you can attach it to your shirt or whatnot eventually broke off but that's really my only complaint. After about 2 years the ear cushions were worn to the point they were peeling off, but one call to Sennheiser and I was able to buy replacement pads and they are as good as new. Highly recommend Sennheiser, they have been worth every penny in my experience.
edit: Also, whatever you do, stay away from Razer's headset if they are still making it. That was probably the biggest piece of shit I ever bought. It died in 30 days and so did the replacement they sent me, I immediately returned the 2nd pair and got my money back.

There is one of these threads every few pages - search or use the random question thread.
Short Answer: Sennheiser HD555's from amazon as linked earlier and in other threads + zalman mic for 10$ that is usually on the same amazon page under "customers frequently bought this too". There is a simple mod where you take off the earcups and remove a piece of foam that will make them perform like the more expensive HD595s which are priced like 100$ more.
edit: they are down to 79 on amazon - if you do not buy these you are a fool. These are the best headphones you will find for under 200, maybe even under 300.
Audio Technica ATH-M50s are also good for the money, and fall into that price range, if you want some options.
...on amazon. Read what you quoted or check the links posted earlier.

The mic is a few scrolls down http://www.amazon.com/Zalman-Microph...d_bxgy_e_img_b
595's are the same as the 555's except there is a piece of foam in the 555's that reduces airflow and base and is easily removable.
The 595's are not worth 5$ more than 555's.
As I've posted in other headset threads, I have this headset from Turtle Beach and it's fantastic. Comes in a few different versions for $80 (I have the 5.1 surround kit, but the Stereo PC one is fine if you're not into that).
Edit: and most importantly they're SO fucking comfortable.
Are you using a laptop by chance, Odon? lol My phones, and any kind I use, get crazy cracking and static just in the right headphone specifically on my laptop, supposedly because of the physical layout of the sound card. If you have a spare set around, try them to make sure it's definitely those headphones.
Nah I'm on a desktop. And I tried my old headset and I don't hear it. Just going to have to exchange it :/
Ah that's balls, hope the next pair clears up because I'm looking at the exact same thing. At least Amazon is running trials for Prime again, really worth it if you aren't already enrolled.
Bumping this thread because I was looking for one within a 50ish price range (which seems harder than I thought it would be?) That would just be comfortable to use and had good noise cancellation. Can't justify the anything OVER 50 because I simply won't use them that often but, I want to make sure when I use them that I won't feel irritated(in terms of ear comfort ability) and regret the decision.
edit: Forgot to add that I am Looking for headphones that cover your ears, not the ones that go inside them as those are far too irritating for my ears.
Was looking at something like these http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-...dp_ob_title_ce
Oh, almost forgot to mention "noise cancellation" as one of the gimmicks to avoid.
I just got HD555's and I think they sound really bad. They sound okay for things like rap, R&B, etc. but sound really bad with rock. Is it because they haven't been "burned in" ? Or is that just a myth?
They should sound worse with rap/r&b due to not having huge bass levels...
They might need a little breaking in, but could be just not a good enough soundcard.
