What is the best Nvidia card I can get for under $300

Looking to upgrade from my HD5770 and go back home to Nvidia, can anyone offer up some/the best Nvidia card I can get for under $300 performance and reliability wise. I was looking at the EVGA 470, but If there is something better I'd like to know. Or if I can get a much better card for a little over 300 that is fine.

    Thanks

Would it be better to just buy a regular 560 and OC it to the settings of this one? Better as in cheaper and the same result?

I'm in the same category, and these are some sweet cards, i'm actually going for a nvidia 570, but which brands are recommended? I'm only familiar w/ EVGA, MSI, and ASUS. and the EVGA 570 superclocked is out of stock atm.

So would it be best to just get the regular EVGA 560 since I know how to Overclock myself, or are there other advantages to the superclocked card?

    That's 30 bucks difference.

Just as a random question, how much better would this card be than the HD5770? Radeon has such high clocks, but no shader clock. I never know how to compare the two. I assume the shader clock on Nvidia is why they have lower other clocks but are still better.

    This is the 5770

The MSI card i linked comes clocked at 880 mhz, its $249, and has the best cooler imo (allowing for better OCing) . You seem to have your heart set on an EVGA though. Most people stick to them for the lifetime warranties, which shouldn't matter to most people who upgrade before their warranty expires anyway. Here is a benchmark for the 560. The 5770 is not listed but it is probably 4~12 slower than the 460 1gb . There is also a gigabyte card clocked to 1ghz for $269. I'd still go with the MSI 560 Twin Frozr II. The 570s are only $50 over your budget.

Yeah I think I'm going to go with that MSI 560. After watching the video and reading more about it, it seems to be the best choice for the money.

But seriously though, could I just get the regular 560 and OC it myself using Afterburner and save a chunk of money? That is if MSI has a regular 560, I didn't see it on Newegg, only the OC one.

    Edit:
    Nvm that was open box.

Yes you can OC it yourself. Sometimes the superclocked versions have slightly better cooling/better heatsink but you'd have to find that out yourself by checking description or reading comments on Newegg. I tend to stick to EVGA and XFX for lifetime/double lifetime warranty, but my current card is a MSi and have had no problems other than it can get pretty hot, so yes if you go MSi, make sure you get Twin Frozr.

The MSI Twin Frozr II 560 is the same price as the non-OC'd models and will run much cooler when OC'd, thus helping reach higher clocks.

Seems like i'm gonna go for MSI then, i liked their mobos.

but ok, Kingeric, the 560 you posted has better clock speeds than the 570 i want:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127564

the only benefit i see in the 570 is more stream processor cores (480 compared to 384), 320-bit instead of 256-bit, and 1280MB VRam over 1GB VRam, openGL 4.1 compatibility too. Is that gonna make a huge difference in framerate for games for me, or should i just bother saving the $110 and go for the 560 and possibly SLi it in the future?

I'm getting an 850W corsair PSU also, will that alone be enough to power 560x2?

All depends on what you are playing and what res and settings. If you remember the difference in performance between the 480 and the 470, that is basically the same difference between the 570 and 560. Identical clock speeds of two different designs are not comparable. Its not going to be a huge difference, usually around 10~20 more FPS(depending on your res and settings). So if you are playing some really intense games maxed out, I'd go with the 570. But you can also overclock them both to reach/surpass the higher class of card. For bang for your buck, I'd go with the 560 unless you really want those extra frames. But if you got the money to spend the 570 is worth it. The choice is up to you and what you plan on playing. 850w will be fine unless you plan on doing some major overclocking.

eVGA cards are binned, so their superclocked cards typically have the better chips that can handle the OCs better. Whereas a stock card may be stock because they didn't feel it would be stable at the SC clocks. Usually doesn't matter depending how much you wanna OC, sometimes does.

10-20 fps is quite the difference especially if i can OC it. I can afford either, i'mma just get the 570 and be happy with it. Lol, later on getting a bigger psu to sli 2x570, what is the recommended psu wattage for dual 560 sli or dual 570 sli? Just curious that is all.

I just can't wait for my new parts, still debating to play tera or i dono what new games are coming out that'll require the power i'm gonna get. Lol

    Thanks for all the help.

I'd say 850W. But I personally would get a 1kw for the extra head room, especially if you plan to OC.
