I haven't been able to log into FF since the servers came back up. Can anyone help?

Ive not been able to log into FF11 since the servers came back up after the 2 weeks powersave shut down. I've been having this issue :

Terminated as error occurred in final fantasy xi. please install direct x 8.1. (-1)

I was online about 4 hrs before the shut down. Everything was working fine. The next time I tried to log in was the afternoon after the servers came back online, and I found out I couldn't get ingame.

Wow and FF14 run perfect, its just FF11 that wont load me up past the viewer stage. I've checked my copy of Direct X. Dxdiag tells me its direct x 11 and it's, working fine, no issues. My service packs are all up to date. I even updated my graphics after the problem occured to see if this would fix it but it didn't. I've ran FF with and without Windower. Finally I unistalled and reinstalled it twice and I'm still having the same issue. I play on a vista desktop pc.

Can anyone shed any light on this? I dont know much about computers tbh, just that it was working fine right before the shutdown and now it wont.

It's not because you have direct x 11 that 8.1 is working

When I first played ffxiv I have direct x 10 and the game wasn't working because windows 7 doesn't have 9 installed, so I have to install 9 and 10

So best bet is to try to reinstall direct x 8.1

Thanks, I actually tried this off the disk and a download site numerous times. I click install on 8.1 and after less than 1 second it tells me that it was successful - yet FF still wont work. Also. FF was playing perfectly up until the server shutdown so why would I suddenly NOT have Direct X 8-1 + installed anymore?? It suggests to me I must have had it before, in order to be working then o.o

Soulève been possible that the installation got corrupt

Reinstall ffxi???
