    Patch 1.17 Outline (04/12/2011)

    As promised in the seventh Letter from the Producer, we are happy to announce that patch 1.17 is on schedule for release in a matter of days.
    ◆ Patch 1.17 Release Date
    Thursday, April 14, 2011 (following server maintenance)

    ◆ Patch 1.17 Maintenance Time
    21:00 p.m. to 23:00 p.m. (GMT)

    The following is a brief outline of the planned changes:

    ◆ Patch Outline
    [dev1002] [dev1003] The implementation of new sidequests
    [dev1011] The balancing of guildleve rewards
    [dev1020] Adjustments and additions to the party system
    Maximum party size has been reduced to 8 members.
    Parties with 4 to 7 members are now called "light parties."
    Parties with 8 members are called "full parties."
    Special status enhancements will be granted to light and full parties. (Changes to party member display UI still under consideration.)
    [dev1021] Adjustments to battle content in conjunction with the new party system
    Adjustments to behest difficulty and bonuses to accommodate new full party size of 8 members.
    Adjustments to the behest schedule.
    [dev1029] Adjustments to environment collision detection
    [dev1030] Adjustments to enemy distribution
    [dev1031] The addition of new notorious monsters
    [dev1038] The implementation of new equipment and items
    [dev1039] The reduction of randomness affecting the approach phase in gathering
    [dev1040] Adjustments and additions to active icons

    A more detailed report can be found in the 1.17 patch notes, scheduled for release on April 14.

    [dev1003] Public company quests

    * Planning of public companies and related quests in Limsa Lominsa, Ul'dah, and Gridania

    ...So, where are the Companies >_> <_<?

    They may have the lodestone maint. to include the company stuff on the site tho. Ah yes,

    we will release information regarding the Grand Companies of Eorzea (what were referred to as “public companies” in previous posts) just before patch 1.17 goes live. We are currently readying a page dedicated to this exciting new feature, and hope to have it up on the Lodestone shortly.

    This looks promising. I was not a fan of the large parties this should make things more tactical now hopefully. Maybe with this party size change we will see the return of alliances and what not? (If they ever add large raid content like Dynamis?)

    I was hoping the class changes would be in this patch but we haven't heard a thing about that subject so I guess they'll do the major revamps in May.

    I wouldn't mind not seeing alliances again. Maybe 12 people (4 + 4 + 4) though.

    Yeah, I did expect to see Companies though. That's still a bit unclear.

    What could those enhancement bonuses be like?

    Hmmm, bit worried about how this might effect Behest, which can be very popular on Kashuan during JP hours at some camps; I've done quite a few with more than 10 people involved. Wait and see I guess.

    They said they'll adjust Behest to match this, so maybe they'll do it once every 30 min. and have a 30 min. cooldown before you can join again?

    Looking forward to this. Something I haven't said about this game for a while... hope it doesn't disappoint.

    Means people will need to spread out for Behest instead of just going to the easy to get to areas. Going to see more people at those random bumblefuck nodes.

    As always, I'll make a new video detailing the big changes from the patch.

    Still not good enough as far as size goes, so the rehauls (either partial or complete) gotta come in May.. or they're too slow and we can just forget about it.

    Crossing my fingers those NMs are for r50s and not low levels. A mix would be good too.

    Since we have NMs in all the outdoor areas, I'm going to assume these new ones will spawn in the higher tier dungeons outside of the 3 city states. In fact wasn't a new antling model added in the last patch?

    Plz let the new items not be another reskin of others. I guess all the other gear that we got until now was under Tanakas supervision, lets see what this guy got.

    Or the NMs could be renamed regular mobs (made even BIGGER) with varied pop conditions like they said they were planning on doing. I believe it was something like "the conversion of regular monsters into Notorious Monsters." Welcome back LL and BB.

    I'm also expecting Behest lolbosses to be converted to more difficult NMs, which could spice it up a bit, but then again, I'm mentally prepared for a let down so it's all good either way.

    I always expect a miracle patch to find myself disappointed every time
