Aegis modification

Forgive me if this has been posted, but I hadnt seen it. Yes, this could have gone under General Update info, but it seems to be valid enough to warrant its own post.

Here what I got so far. I went to sky farming crystal for crafting and might as well test out new MDT on Aegis.

Easy Prey Fire Element during Fireday. All the damage below came from same mob.

Completely Naked.

Firaga III 874 Damage
Fire IV 646 Damage
Flare 891 Damage

With only Aegis ~ 40% MDT

Firaga III 477 Damage
Fire IV 427 Damage
Flare 588 Damage

With Aegis + Shell IV ~ 40% + 21.9% = 61.9%

Firaga III 303 Damage
Fire IV 247 damage
Flare 341 Damage

With Aegis + shell V ~ 40% + 24.2% = 64.2%

Firaga III 290 Damage
Five IV 232 Damage
Flare 320 Damage

With Aegis + Shell V + MDT Gears ~ 40% + 24.2% + 17% = 81.2% MDT

Firaga III 157 Damage
Fire IV 127 Damage
Flare 176 Damage

It possible that the MDT is 90% cap at the moment since 25% in gears 25% in shell5 and 40% from Aegis. Next update could raise to 100%. Ochain block rate is 90% at the moment so it not surprise Aegis reduce 90% of magic damage taken. It's very very nice upgrade on Aegis. Normal Paladins can't reach this MDT even with gears. Aegis still block often and more than any shields in game just not as significance level of Ochain.

Going out a limb here and say that Aegis MDT cap is same as SMN Pet PDT cap with Ducal on. That´s 87.5% or something right?

One reason you'd farm crystals is if you were wildgrass gardening. Crystal prices can cut into your profits because the crystals you use are 2-3k a stack and it adds up.

This is what I figured the update meant...

So SE effectively increased the MDT and PDT caps for PLD equipped with Aegis & Burtgang to make them more viable.


Still doesn't fix PLD, but this is a very kick ass buff all the same.

Except Ochain makes Burtgang worthless and it still has a lot more utility than Aegis.

AV and PW were the first things I thought of when I thought of Aegis. Is it possible for a capped MDT aegis PLD to survive all the astral flows from PW now? Or will he still eat the moss on the ground?

Meteor is survivable now plus the level cap difference to chip away AVs HP bar before he depops. I wanna see an apathy LS style battle video on AV with the new aegis upgrade for the lolz. Can probably kill him without zerging now with some ease.

If you lose money when buying the crystals, then you would be better off just selling the crystals and not gardening.

I don't think that Aegis is even necessary, just capped PDT and at least 10 people to sponge Meteor. 6000 damage with full ga reduction and MDT is like 1200 damage, WHM MDB barspells can bring that under 1000. Hume NIN/WAR has 1440 HP (with HP merits), Carbonara can bring that up to 1615 (although I'd rather use Arrabbiata.) MDT isn't even hard to cap. I think the rise of the super WHM makes it very feasible. Actually planning on one soon for the shear fun of it.

Yea I wanna see a regular AV kill without zerging even though the cap is level 90 now. I didn't calulate the level penalty differences since you are now above AVs level by about 4-6 levels but I just assumed from my memory at level 75 that a bracelets AV could hit someone in the 1800-2000 range still even at level 90.

What about the PW question? Can a PLD survive all astral flows with the new aegis buff? I wanna see that on youtube!

I think this might play a bit more into Voidwalker NM's as the first round are not too nice and I can only imagine what some of the nastier ones will do.
