FFXI Ultimate Collection digital download codes + an existing account

Hi, I'm hoping someone here has the answer... basically I have an account that has been closed around a year so when I reactivate I need Abyssea expansion codes and obviously the cheapest way to do this would be to buy the Ultimate collection. I have found the cheapest here (amazon .com/Final-Fantasy-XI-Ultimate-Collection/dp/B004V9QC80/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1305526261&sr= 1-8) as a digital download. Does anyone know, by actually doing it, that if I were to download and install this I would get the 3 Abyssea codes AS CODES or are they tied to the account that the main FFXI would be with this download? Thanks.

Yes, you can input the code you get in POL and it will work for all 3 addons. You won't get the free 30 days, but you'll get all Abyssea addons (and the other 3 story addons).

So when I buy this it will install the download and give me all the codes separately? They are not tied to the main FFXI code and account that I would be purchasing? Have you done this or know someone who has done this? Just want to be 100% before I buy it cus I'm poor atm lol

yes it works, its usually 1 code that enables everything, I did it for the 3 mini expansions when abyssea started for my second character

It's $13 on Steam currently if that helps any. It'll have the serial keys listed under the game's description page under your steam client. One for the expansions, one for the beret. Beret can be applied to any account. Might end up being $5-10 during one of the daily sales this week also on there.

I'm not sure how the regional handling is though for Steam purchases of FFXI if you live outside of North America, since last I checked if you own an account from US/EU/JP, the key you're applying it to has to match the same region.

That's normal. With the possibility of billing trouble or region locks on software, online stores like Amazon will only sell software within their own country. You can get someone within that region to make the purchase for you, otherwise you need to look at another seller.

Yeah I might have to find someone in America to do it for me, as for Steam my friend tried to download it from there today and he said Steam was down and has been down for a while for him or something so he got it from some other site for £18. Thanks for replies.

Don't actually have to do that, or well at least to get the key. I made an account on Amazon with some bs USA address, purchased ultimate pack for my mule on that and got the code emailed to me. I never actually downloaded anything of it though. I was only after the code, so I can't tell you if it works for downloading the game from Amazon, but plenty of ways to get the game otherwise though.

When it came to the purchasing and putting in credit/debit card details I had to put in the postcode I HAD to put in an American post code and there was no way around it because it would check this, no idea how you got around that but would love to know.

I faked a USA postcode when it asked for my delivery address, don't remember it asking for my postcode when entering credit card info, but if it did I'm sure I entered my legit postcode for that part. If there's one thing I learned in the years from importing games like FFXI, is that you can bullshit alot, but credit card info has to be 100% correct. Maybe I bullshitted a legit USA postcode for a delivery address, if that's the case, just google one =D

If I put in my address the a fake US Zip code then it doesn't work because the address doesn't match the Zip code, if I try and fake the entire address then won't the payment fail because the details are incorrect?

Look at it as 2 seperate things: 1. You got the delivery address info (just google a correct one so you don't get error on zip code not matching address) and 2. you got the payment info. These 2 don't need to match, info from your delivery address isn't used to verify your credit card. They only use the information you provided at the credit card screen to see if the credit card is legit. Amazon won't bitch about the address until you actually try to send stuff there and they get it returned to them.

A friend pointed this method out to me, which I then tried as well and was surprised it worked. Felt slighty bad since I like buying shit from Amazon, but I only needed a key, so technically I didn't do anything they didn't want (as in: download the game they only want people from the US to download). Money is already from my credit card too so all parties happy =)

Ok will have to try that then, but just logged in and my account has gone crazy, it says the Playonline account has been closed or I owe them money, it then asks me to log in with POL ID + PW and when I do that it says the password is wrong (it's not, I logged in a couple days ago fine). I can't owe them money because the account has been closed since February 2010 and it logged in fine the other day. Logged into SE ID fine, accepted all the new bs, and the information on there says I have no contents cancelled and that FFXI is still active which is impossible. Will have to try live support tomorrow.

This was an issue with the latest payment cycle. My husband's account had all content IDs cancelled and he could only get them back after re-inputting his payment details. The bill had already been charged, and our other 2 accounts using the same billing info were just fine. Try entering your payment info again and you should be ok.

I can't even get to payment stage. The content IDs on it were cancelled about a year ago but I could still log in to the PLAYONLINE account til yesterday when it went nuts. Now when I log on it says Playonline account is closed! I haven't closed it

Then it says the Playonline account can be reactivated by logging in to it, then when I try and log in it says the Password is incorrect but it cannot be incorrect or I wouldn't be able to log in to it in the first place?
