    taxi rates in FL

Kinda a totally random question, but anyone who lives in FL have an idea of what the average rates are to take a taxi?

Leaving for orlando in a couple of days and there's really only two days we're probably going to need transportation to the parks. (My parents drove down from CT to be with us so most of the time is going to be traveling with them).

The park is literally less than a mile away from the timeshare (first right after getting out of the timeshare is disney world drive), and cheapest rental on a car is $300~ (after that oh so wonderful tax). So we're thinking a taxi has to be cheaper than that. But as I don't live in a city, I can't think of the last time I've actually taken a taxi. Two days at disney is all we're doing and then the rest is probably waterparks which our parents will go with us (my dad can't handle walking around in disney anymore ).

So ya, I guess how much in general is calling and taking a taxi to and from disney world which is less than a mile away

not walking on a highway. Also, not walking back after a full day of walking. Also, yay to bringing up being fat right away.

that's exactly what I needed. (also, you fail if I think I'm upset about the fats allusion, someone needs to go on bgchat/read spam moar).

Things can be deceiving about the miles, so that's good to have. like this is where I'm staying:

we literally see animal kingdom on the other side of the fence (no animals though, they have further fences unconnected to ours.)

But according to that, to get to epcot is actually 6 miles in driving. So ya.

maybe taxi to animal kingdom then take the free bus to epcot lol.

he'd probably just jump the fence and hope the lions don't get to him first.

Also, works out 'cause we'd save about $200 even going to the furthest park so fuck ya.

what's your point? I didn't say I shouldn't have googled, just I didn't think to because I just went directly to the sites.

I haven't gone in a while but i'm pretty sure there should be transportation available by disney that connects each of the parks. I don't know the going rate of a bus/monorail etc ride but it should be more convenient and cheaper than a taxi for 3-5 I'd think.

    You should have googled.

    You always should have googled.

Anyone that's used the internet for any significant amount of time should know that if you have a question the first and foremost thing to do is google.

Seems odd the time share wouldn't have a shuttle to the parks?

DAMMIT, i should've went to the parks this week, lol. my brother and my sister in law live in orlando and they get some kind of residence discount which is actually quite significant for all the parks there and includes the speed pass for everyone as long as they go (which they never mind going). if i knew you guys were going to be in town, i would've drove there and be your awesome tour guide and token black friend. im not really too into it, but i dont mind the Hulk once in awhile.

anyways, you guys need to stop being so horrible and hang out in S. FL instead. that's the only part of FL that actually doesnt completely suck

their buses/monorail only take you from park to park and to their own hotels. Our timeshare isn't a part of disney so they wouldn't take us there

Ya they do, but sometimes I think our timeshare complex is still stuck in the 80s. iirc from the last time I was there, they have set days that the shuttle goes and it only goes once in the morning and once at night. We may still do that too, but I wanted to get some more info beforehand because they still don't have full wifi at the timeshare (you have to go to the game room to get internet access, and last time I went, it was insanely crappy internet). Basically, it's a probability that we'd do it, but I wanted to know back ups for sure in case those times won't work for us. We're probably going to be meeting my sister and her family over there so the times are also based on them.

I also think there's a city shuttle bus that goes around international drive, but the taxi thing is a pretty decent price so we may just stick to that.

:3 <3 richardd. We came 'cause our families have timeshare in orldando. I'm a disney kid and used to go every year. ^^ Man it's insane thinking when I was little there was like nothing on international drive, to it being completely packed with shops, to it being completely packed with stores that are closed. Sad. I love Disney though so should have a good time. ^^ I also want to check out pleasure island this time around, as the last time I went I was like 12 and we couldn't go in most of the places lol.

[edit] actually I might as well give it a shot and also ask if anyone knows if there's a way to get world showcase in the evening only tickets anymore? (yes I googled, I've been looking for weeks). Back in the day there was a way you could enter in for a low price in the evening if you wanted to just go to one of the restaurants. I imagine maybe people abused this so they got rid of it (though the world showcase hours are different than the rest of epcot, at least they used to be). My dad loves the Moroccan restaurant there, and I'd love to take him (there's an easy entrance at the boarwalk so he won't have to walk far). If we have to, we'll front the full cost of a day ticket so he can go, but was just curious if anyone knew anything about it.

I just got back from a vacation in Orlando about a week ago! I had a blast and I hope you do, too.

Very good idea. Those shuttles act shady as fuck sometimes. They can show up and leave early or late. Tough shit to anyone who misses it. They have absolutely 0 guarantees, and they can really cut into your time at the park with their bullshit schedule.

As for the waterparks: if you go to Wet N Wild, get there early! Around 1-3, some of the lines are an hour or two long with no covering. I got a nasty sunburn just from waiting in line for one of the more popular rides. Luckily we got there early, so we only had to wait in one really long line before we fucked off in the lazy river for the rest of the day. Generally for all of the parks, water or not, lines are really short until early afternoon. Make a plan to go to the parks as close to opening as possible, and hit the best rides first if you can.

Disney fastpasses are amazing. If you grab a ticket at a certain time, and come back at the designated time on the ticket, you can skip the line at that later time. You can either play it so you grab a fastpass, then get in line anyway and come back later for a line-free second ride, or you can grab a fastpass and go get in line for something else. Take advantage of those and you can dramatically cut the time wasted in lines. At Magic Kingdom, we grabbed a fast pass for Splash Mountain, then hit Thunder Mountain and the Haunted House. When we went back, we skipped the hour+ line for Splash Mountain! Use and abuse.

Different parks have different fast pass systems though. At Universal/Islands of Adventure, you have to buy them, but can use them right away for any ride. At the Disney parks, they are free and you come back at a later time to use them, but you have to get a different pass for each ride. We only used the Disney park system, but the lines at Universal/Islands weren't too bad when we went, so I'm glad we didn't buy those.

Be crafty take a taxi to downtown disney then jump onto one of their busses to the nearest resort that has bus there when you get to downtown disney. Once your at the hotel you can take anyone of their busses to the park of your choosing. If you know what your doing and which resorts are close to downtown its a free fairly fast way to get around, downside if you pick the wrong resort bus to take it can be a bit of ride getting to it then a bit to get to the park you want.

If you're worried about Taxi rates before you go on vacation you probably shouldn't be going on vacation

ya I was thinking along those lines, but tbh I probably won't need to. If we do, animal kingdom's entrance is the closest to us so we'd head there, then bus where ever we want to go. but ya even taxiing to epcot back n' forth will be way cheaper than renting a car. so we'll probably stick to that. :D

learn to read the thread first before posting. not worried, just curious which would be cheaper before I head over there and have limited internet access.

...where and what are you renting that's $300? I've gotten a Corolla from MCO for about $40 a day.
