If you have fought Garuda, give details, such as abilities, experience, drop rate etc.

From easy mode only (for example, she never made clones):

• 4 stone pillars in the center of a round arena, Garuda waiting at opposite end.

• Garuda is straight-forward, seems to use an AoE called Slipstream often.

• After taking maybe 25% of her HP down, starts to occasionally summon lots of Razor Plumes, which immediately begin attacking the stone pillars. Low HP, easy to take out with Rain of Death/Blizzara/etc.

• After taking 75% or so of her HP down, she readies her big attack Aerial Blast. Hiding behind stone pillars reduces damage, but it will still hurt a lot.

• Aerial Blast wipes out all stone pillars, creating a dust storm, and she redies another big move, Mistral Song, which knocks back pretty far and hurts a little less than Aerial Blast.

• After clearing the dust storm, seems to go back to normal. Then we killed her. (This is where she probably clones herself in hard mode)

• Note: She tends to teleport to opposite ends of the battlefield at what seemed to be regular intervals.

Hardmode was incredibly fun. SE did a great job balancing the fight and giving it a splash or randomness that is refreshing in FFXIV.

Guaranteed 2 headdresses per person per kill, though no idea if speed kill affects that or not. Probably not.

Does this mean that you can't get weapons directly?

Erm, I suppose it's probably too early to ask. I imagine it hasn't been killed that many times.

40 for a weapon, but if we get 2x8 each kill, it's just under three kills per weapon. I'm sure it'll be lowered in 1.23.

So roughly 20 fights a weapon per person. Not too bad I suppose since I only have my eyes on the BLM staff.

I think you need to complete certain GC quests to get the pre-req fight. I was not able to flag the Raven quest until I completed "Two vans are better than one".

Pretty sure you do not need to rank up... unless the previously highest rank is required? I am almost certain I completed Shadow of the Raven, In For Garuda Wakening, and flagged Taming the Tempest before I even began promoting to Chief.

So, you may need to rank up to what was already available to access pre-1.22 quests since the grand company quest and the easy mode Garuda are very meteor-storyline-involved.
