army recruiting and the army(no im not going to join)

After the crap fight last night bunch of us got into a heated fight over what our army really is made of.

For the most part it ranged from; mercenaries to pride.

Now I understand you cant lump everyone into one group, but for the most part it seems to me that a large portion are people who; have no money, come from a family they cant stand or in some shape or form feel its the only way to get their life in check.

Pride may come into play after but I sorta feel like the bulk of it comes from the 30k a year you make staying on a base spending nothing with a shot at college after(or learning on the job) In other words to me its work for money or flat out mercenaries.

I understand this is not the case with everyone. The group pointed out my family, I have a large group that is in the military past and present. None doing it for the money so to speak(come from a upper middle class family)

In the end I somehow got drawn into agreeing to go see a recruiter. I have zero plans to join but I do have some things I want to ask people about it.

    1) is it illegal to see more then one at a time?
    2) Can I lie to them to try and get real answers?
    3) some questions you guys who are in the army(or not i could care less) would ask.

My plan was to take info down on say 3 areas. I live on Long Island so I was going to hit one in the city, one in nassau county and lastly one in suffolk county close to a rich area (the Hamptons maybe)

There is no simply showing up and asking a few questions. They're going to try to sell you on joining and that includes calling you non stop at any hour they deem ok.Even showing up to your house "just to see how your doing".

So your just going to troll recruiters to get answers, to learn what exactly?

My dad was a recruiter for years, one of the fastest ring winners in history. Most of his recruits were simply guys out of high school looking for a head start in career building, like any other high schooler else in America.

I want to see just how they sell people. Cant really trust what people tell you, as no ones going to flat out tell me if it was for the money. You always get from people "Oh its my duty/ My pride/ Love for ..."

and its not trolling(its not the internet), its me trying to learn something about the military.

Yes, they come off as sellsmen, but they are trying to get contracts. They make their college programs, pay, and travel opportunities look attractive.

They don't answer any questions at all until you give them a verified name, address, and phone number?

I don't know, apparently someone thinks there is some point to fight over what people think of the military and something satisfying about going head to head with a recruiter.

Some people care about how many colors of gummy bears there are, and others like wasting energy for personal things. Then,, there are those people who like to jerk off to Scooby Doo.

    This has been done before.

It was proven recruiters lie their asses off.

It's a fact that military is just a sanctioned group of thugs and killers. Purpose of the military is to kill people.
Pride and Honor? Propaganda. Nobody would join if their recruitment included truth about what military is all about.

My boy, keeping it 100 in this bitch.

I'm a recruiter's worst nightmare, most of my conversations end in 2mins. Those jugheads approach me with that fake ass friendly, yet aggressive, routine all the time at various mall foodcourts and college campuses. They leave either royally pissed at me or with a quiet, almost depressing, vibe after I've ran off a list of historic and personal issues with killing arabs.

if you're not interested in killing people/blowing shit up or at the very least supporting other folks killing people/blowing shit up for reasons you can only guess at, may disagree with, or find personally abhorrent, don't waste your time. the reasons why folks want to kill people/blow shit up or support/facilitate others doing the same vary from person to person and situation to situation.

recruiters of course are going to try to sell you on the benefits, it's, you know, their fucking job to do so. anyone with half a brain will do some outside research before signing anything.

The best way to get the truth about the military is to talk to someone that is in it, a reservist will do just as good if they've seen active duty.

I've done 10 years so far in the Army reserves/enlistment. Right off the break I knew they were lying to me (the recruiters). They promised an enlistment bonus (which I never received because I didn't ask for it when I signed my contract at MEPS). They promised I would tour the world (90% of that was deep in the belly of some kind of transport vehicle so I never actually saw Paris or Turkey). They promised I most likely never would see any fighting (I was pressured to join OCS after like 3 years when I turned 21, graduated when I was 22, and saw my first deployment within 3 months of receiving my commission as an officer and was shipped to Iraq). And they promised I would get lot's of shoreleave to see my parents (which made me realize they didn't even look at my recruitment packet and saw that I have no parents and have been an orphan since I was a baby).

So why'd I do it? I really don't know. I don't enjoy fighting, I hate killing, and I never realized why I was being trained to kill people in the first place. I suppose now that I think about it, I really had no choice out of highschool. I didn't have any money, I was a mediocre student, I had no job or technical skills, I liked sports but wasn't anything good enough to get a scholarship or anything. So I suppose the Army was my last resort. It gave me a good base for my career (I joined the DC police department while I was on leave one year and have done very well there).

I learned a lot of shit in the Army (not just how to kill people). I learned how to fix cars, do construction, survive anywhere, made friends, learned about the law and was taught discipline, and generally just had a good time. A lot of people think the military sucks and it's hard and serves no purpose. But in reality, it's just like any other job with goals and objectives and purpose just like any other job. My purpose was to protect America and kill those who would take up arms against America. I'm not gonna lie and sugar coat it.

I would recommend talking to people who've been in the military rather than trying to mess with recruiters. They network pretty well and if you get caught giving false information you can be arrested and charged with federal false swearing and some other shit. Also:

    This has been done before.

It was proven recruiters lie their asses off.

It's a fact that military is just a sanctioned group of thugs and killers. Purpose of the military is to kill people.
Pride and Honor? Propaganda. Nobody would join if their recruitment included truth about what military is all about.
If this is secondhand knowledge then why does the U.S. still have one of the highest recruitment of any voluntary military force in the world? The fact is people don't care why they join. They just know they have the balls and the courage to do it. They aren't afraid of words like "kill" and aren't afraid of death. Yes, it's a dirty side of the military that you probably will have to shoot someone if you get shot at but for some, the dignity of saying you aren't afraid of it and knowing why you're doing it, weather it's for a career or for pride or honor, is more than enough reason to lay your life on the line. Hell with 4 years, of military, I could walk on to any job weather it's computers or law enforcement or a teachers job and I bet you i'll get it over someone without military It's real life experience that teaches you how to be a person and people recognize this.

Because your government keeps majority of the population near or below poverty and your education system doesn't offer enough support for recent high school graduates to explore and find better options, leaving military as the only option for many (like yourself)?
