PS3 Video? Problem

My PS3 turns on fine looks like it is running fine but there is no video. The TV (HDMI input) doesn't even recognize anything is plugged in. So I tried the regular A/V wires and nada and I tried the A/V wires on another TV nada. So here are my questions does it automatically detect the A/V wires like it does the HDMI wires? If not how can I get it to switch over? And if it does detect it automatically then there is something else going on here any ideas wtf?

Sweet that totally worked. Thanks a ton now to figure out whats wrong with my HDMI connection.

go try another HDMI cable...mine stop working for no reason and had extras laying around which did the trick.

So anyways after I set it to standard definition last night I went and tried for the hell of it to put it back on my HDTV using the same wire and it started to work again. Mysterious lol anyways thanks for the help.

Well since this thread is new, will just post on here. I just bought a new TV and when I connected the PS3 using an HDMI cable, randomly it would lose picture for a second or 2, then reappear. Sound would stay, but just the picture. I tried a couple different HDMI cables but no luck, even went and bought a new HDMI cable and still did it. Thought the PS3 was dieing as the HDMI didnt even work with my old TV, so bought a new Slim (wanted a reason to get one anyway) and same issue sadly.

So, new PS3, New TV, new cable, none older than a month and video cuts out randomly for a second or 2 every few minutes. Also, it seems to happen more (maybe only now that I think about it) while playing a game. Watched a DVD last night and didnt do it and never notice it on the dashboard... Any advice would be great!
