Is Websense still king?

Is websense still as unstoppable as it used to be or is there a way around it now? Been spending a lot of time at the library and they have nearly everything blocked as far as connecting to their wifi goes.

What's funny is that I see people on the library computers on sites that I get blocked on by using my own computer @.@ (Facebook for one or any site that has to deal w/ games, including BG)

There any way to bypass that shit? About to head there soon

Use a free/paid proxy, unless they have proxies blocked.

He just said anything with proxy in the name is blocked. I had to deal with websense a while back. It used to be they didn't block everything but now it seems like they pretty much do. I had a lot of difficulty finding proxies, but there's probably a way. Sorry I can't help any more than that.

It depends how the system administrator has websense set up. However, since you said "library", I'm going to assume the websense server is not located in the building, but probably is pointed to some sort of VPN tunnel.

If you are using your laptop with wifi, you are probably out of luck, since the wifi directs through the tunnel in order for you to get out.

So visually it would go something like: Your computer > Wifi > VPN tunnel > Websense > out to the greater internets at large.

Therefore if websense says you can't go to a website, it throws its lovely message.

There is a work around if you are using one of their computers (and if they don't have it locked down). You can check Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet options > Lan Connections > and see if the proxy server box is checked. If it is checked, you can uncheck the box and then you'll have unrestricted internet. It is unlikely this will work as they probably have Tools locked via group policy.

You can try using the IP instead of the domain name. You open a cmd prompt and ping the site then plug the IP into the address bar, example: to get to Facebook you would enter 66.220.149.11
If they block by IP you can try converting the IP to hexadecimal, its much more complicated but Google can tell you how.
