Zone Alarm firewall error in Firefox 9

I use Zone Alarm free firewall. I updated to Firefox 9.0.1 and I keep getting this weird error message every time I try to start it.

    load:Type Error:Components.classes['@checkpoint.com/XPCOMTrustCheckerMozilla/TrustCheckerMozilla;1']is undefined

You have to click "OK" in the box for the browser to come up.

When I look under Add ons > Extensions > Zone Alarm is greyed out and it says, "Zone Alarm security engine will be disabled after you restart Firefox" I don't want to do this obviously (even if you restart it doesn't do anything) but I can't find a solution. I've done some searches but there is not much info on the problem. Is my only choice to switch to a different firewall until they fix this problem?

Sounds like a plugin/addon error. Might want to email the company and tell them, usually the company will fix it next update. At least with my experience with similar things.

IF they don't within a month, I suggest you change firewalls. If you're REALLY concerned about it, might be a good idea to switch firewalls until they fix it. I like Online Armor myself. ^^

Just switch firewall. And i don't mean "install another software firewall as a replacement", but "re-enable windows firewall". Ever since Windows XP SP2 the Win Firewall is more than enough. It does its job and doesn't annoy you with cryptic messages like "svchost.exe tried to contact server <random IP> on port XY". And unless you're directly hooked to a Modem, your Router is another barrier towards the Internet because of NAT.

Easiest way to get rid of this problem is probably to download the latest version of zonealarm (10.1.079). For unknown reasons ZA isn't autoupdating to this version, so you'll have to visit their homepage and download it.

Software firewalls at large are useless if you have a good router with NAT and security

But if you must use one, Windows Firewall is more than enough.

The days of 2005-2006 FFXI keyloggers requiring NoScript, AdBlock, four antivirus programs and ZoneAlarm over Windows XP is long gone. It's not that big of a deal anymore.
