I took a course way back, a little 3 month thing at the Conservatory called Singing from Scratch and learned some extremely basic techniques, mainly focusing on abdomen strength and signing from there rather than forcing it from the throat which is what most of those tone-deaf idiots do on You Wish You Had Talent Idol Island Challenge Americaland III
anyway this morning while singing in the shower for the first time in a while, I found I had returned to my old dilemma of trying to figure out which is my ideal range and for lack of a better term, where my relaxed octave is
by default I sing high, like an alto-tenor though not in any operatic sense, but I find my voice wavers less when I sing lower. My high notes when I sing high definitely falter
aside from sitting down with a singing coach, anyone have some tips for novices on how to best utilize their strengths or how to determine said strengths?
I find I can sing a lot of the Cranberries' music and early Coldplay (first 2 albums) but holy crap I can never make that one transition in Fake Plastic Trees by Radiohead
on a side note, anyone have some songs they love to belt out in the shower?
