On an annual basis, Extra Life—a gamer-themed donation drive that concludes with a 24-hour gaming marathon on October 20th—collects thousands of dollars, all of which go directly to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. This year, I'll be one of the many participants in the 2012 marathon
During this drive, I'll aim to raise at least $250 by October 20th, 2012, for the Children's Hospital of Orange County. Already, I've reached the $115 mark, but I have less than a month to go; if anyone here on BG is looking for a cause worthy of their dollars, I've got one for you.
100% of the donated funds will be funneled directly to CHOC. This well-regarded children's hospital tackles practically everything a child could go through, from the mundane to the catastrophic. They're going through a growing period right now, which should help them shift from providing local care to becoming recognized as one of the finest children's hospitals in the nation. Naturally, your donations can help.

Beyond that, some of you may be wondering: what am I going to play for 24 hours straight?
"Final Fantasy XI" is a definite. I've never retired from the game, and twenty-four hours of gameplay ought to be right up my alley. If I switch off, though, I'll bet I'm going to fool around a little in WoW, as I'm already enjoying Pandaria. What about StarCraft, you ask? Who knows—I just might. It's a good reason to finally firmly acclimate myself to the franchise.
Streaming video probably will not be an option, but I plan on communicating with my fellow gamers by other means, such as utilizing BG's Chat (where I've rarely stepped), being on Steam for messaging, and whatever else I can think of.
In advance, I thank anyone who wants to contribute for their donation. As mentioned, every dollar given will go directly to the Children's Hospital of Orange County. Your support is greatly appreciated.
