Has anyone been watching this show? It's another collaboration between Karl Pilkington, Ricky Gervais, and Stephen Merchant where Karl is sent to see the 7 wonders of the world. I've been liking it a lot so far since it's such a change of pace from the usual podcasts and radio shows they've done in the past.

Karl got back from Alaska today. It was the first trip of An Idiot Abroad 2 : The Bucket List.

He's not happy. It's not what he expected at all. Still too late now. He signed the contract and cashed the cheque. What a fucking twonk.

I don't know, does anyone else rage because crap like this is on "the Science Channel"? The Travel Channel and Food Network already backwash into each others territory but at least there's legitimate middle-ground. This just triggers my nerd defenses.

In some other stuff that they did on Youtube, Karl took an IQ test for entry into Mensa. He scored an 80 (US National Average is 100, and I think UK is about the same). The guy really is stupid. Ricky likes him because Karl just takes in random shit that he hears and tries to piece together his world views based on it without leaving any blanks to account for the unknown. He said that Karl represents a child-like innocence.

I have to wonder if Karl ever gets pissed at seriously being the token stupid guy.

I'm beginning to think that this has all just become an act. Gervais + Merchant have to be writing some of these things.

Nevertheless though, pretty sweet job. It's only annoying b/c he doesnt like to go abroad, even w/ 2 douchebags trying to make the trips more miserable idk that traveling would be that bad.

I seriously doubt that anything of him is scripted, obviously the travels are planned. But I listened to like 40 hours of podcasts of the trio...and I just don't see him being an actor.

I mean, even if he was an actor and it was scripted...he'd a) be a fabulous actor and b) they would be even more genious than they already are...so :D

I'm about 80% sure that it's a comic act and he's just really into his character. I don't think Gervais/Merchant wrote any of what he says though; there have been interviews where they flat-out say if they were going to write a character as brilliant as him, they wouldn't be wasting it on podcasts.
