Keyboard Not Typing in FFXI.

Tried googling this but all I found were threads about wireless keyboards not working.

When I am in FFXI, for instance, if I press the "D" key, instead of getting the letter "D" in the chatbox, my character moves to the right, respectively. I think I'm gonna get smashed over the head because I feel like this is a very simple fix. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Also, no recent hardware changes or anything, it just started this morning so maybe I hit a key that I am not aware of.

Havent played ff11 in years, but isn't there something like "simple" and "advanced or something as a keyboard setting? Maybe compact was a setting or something? and it's trying to use wasd as movement...try looking at keyboard settings is basically what I'm getting at.

Have you looked through options? Been few years since I've played FFXI but it sounds like you changed a setting which makes the keyboard default to corresponding controls rather than chat (WASD movement, possibly R/L/P for chat instead of Ctrl+R/L/P and so on)

I checked the keyboard settings and everything is still the default settings. I'm really stuck on this one. The best part is I can still chat with people if I press Ctrl+R or Ctrl+L for linkshell. But if I was to try to type something in say without the chatbox being up, then it won't let me type anything.

So, you changed your keyboard settings (on FFXI, while logged in) to Standard regular than Compact, or the other options?

If that doesn't help, what kind of keyboard do you have?

This sounds like you have the game set to "Compact Keyboard" settings. If you are able to press the Spacebar, and then the Letter 'D' key and get it to type a 'd' in your chat, this is what happened. You can go to the game menu, and in the 'Settings' menu there is a toggle that lets you switch between "Compact" mode and "Standard" mode. If you do not see the option that says "Compact" you are looking at the incorrect settings and changing those will not help you.
