    Dealing with SE customer service?

    If this is in the wrong spot, please move it to where it should be.

    That out of the way, my friend is pretty much computer illiterate, so he asked me to start a new account for him so he could start dual boxing. Back in my day, the POL ID came in the box, and you'd enter each registration code accordingly.

    Long story short, I hit FFXI instead of POL and it used the registration code to give him the shantoto expansion, the only one he didn't have, and now I can't even put the unused portion (aka everything else) to make a new account.

    Literally got into the SE chat 10 minutes later, so about half hour total after buying the damn thing, and I got this bullshit for service

    Agent Jennifer A: Hello and thank you for contacting SQUARE ENIX Customer Support. Just a few moments while I review your question, please.
    You: Okay, thank you
    Agent Jennifer A: While I look over your ticket information, may I have your first name please?
    You: [Name]
    Agent Jennifer A: Unfortunately that service is not available at this time. Suggestions from our customers are always valued. While we cannot guarantee implementation we will surely pass this on to the developers.
    Agent Jennifer A: Are there any different issues I can assist you with right now?
    You: wait, I'm going to need more than "that service is not available' I just spent $12 on this
    Agent Jennifer A: Once the codes have been used that's it
    Agent Jennifer A: They are one time use only
    You: Can you put me on with someone higher up then?
    Agent Jennifer A: There is no option to do this
    Agent Jennifer A: We have no control or access to registration codes
    You: that's not what i asked
    Agent Jennifer A: I have already provided you with a resolution to this issue. As it seems you have no other new issues I can assist you with, I will be removing you from chat at this time.
    Got back on the chat two more times and it was the same bitch both times. Am I fucked and just have to chalk up the $12 loss (which is BS because I don't even play this shit anymore, but since it physically was my fuck up, I pretty much gotta pay my friend back for it); or is there any way to remove shantoto from his and get the registration code put where it was intended to go?

    You're going to want to use lube next time. The code for Shantoto (if I remember right) will activate all of the other expansions as well. When I made my mule I only had to put in 1 code for everything including Abyssea, I recall.

    Jenifer A is fucking terrible. My friend got her about 6 times before we figured out why his account was permanently banned. Online chat is not going to get you anywhere generally.

    EDIT: Okay, read the post the wrong way, I thought you were intentionally trying to register Shantotto on one account and then registering the rest on another.

    Yeah, you're basically screwed on this one. In this particular case I wouldn't really blame the customer rep. They're shitty, I'll give you that (Especially when they cut you off randomly- what the fuck? You don't just assume I have no questions left), but this one is out of their control. As she stated, that information is neither available for them to access nor edit, which is really bullshit when you think about it- how does SE expect their reps to provide any sort of help when they can barely access/edit any data pertaining to the accounts?

    Beware that you can get the same people on the phone that you get online, and they're just as terrible. Nothings worse than talking to a dick on CSR chat and calling and getting the same dick on the phone. They don't have that many people.

    The chat service reps are usually very horrible, they've kicked me out like that too lol. Made me question if they are allowed to do that.

    I would just like (in fact, delight) in taking this opportunity to say that yes SE customer sservice is bad, but come to Australia. It's an absolute joke. They literally have no understanding of the phrase "customer service".

    For example (And I wish this was a one off... but it's not. It's the norm.) I once had this following conversation at my hostel reception desk:
    : I'm checking out today, here's my key.
    >> Ok. Btw, we undercharged you for your room for the last week, so you owe us $100.
    : You're joking right? No.
    >> You owe us this money.
    : No, it's your mistake, (the company's, not you personally) so it's your problem.
    >> Yeah, it was a mistake, but then I found the mistake today, and so it's fine and you owe us money.

    I spoke to the manager (german), an in exchange for making me pay that $100, I got given a room over NYE (which they had been horribly overbooked for and were shitting themselves about all of the last week).

    Australians do not know customer service.

    This is the only way you'll possibly be able to get another code without paying for it.

    Unfortunately, you redeemed the key. As others have said, a single key is now used, and it will either redeem everything for a new player, or whatever an existing player did not already purchase.

    If I was running a company I wouldn't give you a key either. For all I know you bought the key to unlock the expansion pack and are now just trying to get a free key out of it. If I'm not mistaken SE has even stated in the past that this is how the keys work. Not that I'm defending SE or that horrible customer service lady...

    Well, like I said, I come from the days where when you bought the game, you were given a POL ID and then had to apply individual codes to it to unlock various XI expansions. If I was actually given a POL ID from the start, then it would have never been an issue.

    That said, amazon forked over another code.

    O.k. this sorta on the same subject, but i wanted to get the 3 abyessa expansions (and i guess ashantotoo one also, as it's the only one of the mini's i don't have)

    My character (this is my fishing mule, so he's 75 but wanted to probably turn him into either an alex mule or an embrava mule, which is why this has occured) is registered to my SE account, do i have to fork over the 40 bucks to purchase the expansions through SE's website, or can i just get a code to input.

    IF i have to buy through SE's website, the only choice's it gives me are Crysta, or click-and-buy (lol C&b, i deleted that shit as soon as i realized i didn't need it) and i have 721 crysta (i don't understand stupid crysta) and it won't let me even purchase 1 of the 9.99 expansions with 700 crysta... i are confused.

    Someone provide me with some sanity lol

    You can buy the code off amazon, then input it in the SE account management system and unlock all the remaining missing expansions/add-ons.

    edit: Crysta = $$$. The reason you can't buy a $9.99 add-on with 721 crysta is it is only $7.21.
