Besides just downloading the client, you also need a Pokemon Red rom in order to play, with HeartGold and SoulSilver being optional roms

I think it's in Alpha right now, but it is basically the original Pokemon Red world/game, but with other people. There are also more pokemon in it than the original game. The pokedex list 386, but I haven't played any recent games so I have no idea how that compares to how many there currently are.

So yeah, have at it, chumps

Amazing idea, didn't actually know it had more pokemon it (pretty sure I heard about this a while ago). Was kind of wondering how you'd collect them all if it was just that one game lol. Might have to try this out whenever I get bored in the future.

I just hope Nintendo doesn't shut it down.

Actually on there as Akiyama, but haven't played in a while. It's a great project. There's like 650ish or so total.. or 600, but yeah.. 386 is a good number. Guess it's first gen + second gen.

Yes, can't trade items but pretty sure, much like the real games you can trade items attached to pokes. iirc.

I played this for an hour or three a few months ago and at that time there was still a decent amount of bugs/crashes. I assume most of those have been fixed, so this could be a pretty decent way to waste some time.

Shame it's only using Gen.III version of pokemon movelists/abilities. They could have implemented only the Gen.III pokemon, but with their most recent move lists. No Skill Link/Shell Smash Cloisters

Yeah, I played this for like 3 hours yesterday and it didn't crash once and I didn't run into a single bug

no matter what heartgold or soul silver rom I use I keep getting a message that the only rom that can be used is fire red. Site says HG/SS are optional, do I need to just have the rom sitting in the same rom folder along side fire red? To bad the game is still running off 3rd gen mechanics before Physical/ special split.

The wife and I were questioning why an MMO of Pokemon doesn't exist. So much potential for $. I know Gamefreak/Nintendo seems to want to stick to handhelds, but I really think a well made Pokemon MMO by Gamefreak would do as good, or better, than WoW. I would buy that shit day 1 w/o question.

Pretty much the only franchise that could power a worldwide MMO and guarantee success, considering Gamefreak would likely be able to do the job right. Of course, I think Nintendo looks at the MMO market and shudders in fear at what the average player would do to their game shitting it up with un-family-friendly fare.
