As the title states, I would like to rip some Youtube videos to files. The reason is I want to watch some lectures on my iPad when I don't have access to wifi.
Thanks in advance.

I really like this userscript, it offers a lot of neat features and adds a download button near the Like buttons offering every version that's available for the video.

Use Download Helper.
Is download helper a firefox addon?
It is. DHelper has been my go-to source for ripping for a few years now.

I use JDownloader, copies link straight to program, can choose what quality you want to download and if it has subtitles it will download the xml file and you can convert that to .srt.

I use flashgot normally to be lazy but Jdownloader is really great and probably the bestter pick of the two It's also especially great since it gives you the option to get an audio only rip so easy music piracy if for some reason it's hard to find the song anywhere but youtube.
