Music: 'Journey' (after a few months of messing around in Ableton)

I noticed this forum, clicked on it, and I think I can put a link to a track of mine? If not, delete this.

Can bury me in negative criticism, I've only been doing this for a few months, and I was in a sharing mood.

This could really benefit from a few skrill style bass drops.

embedding sound cloud is an awesome feature. And your song is pretty awesome but I agree with what others have said. (I am in no way a musician or musically inclined I just like listening)

I expect nobody here to be a musician; I'm merely looking for impressions. BG isn't the place for detailed criticism about EQ, compression, reverb and whatnot. But I like that you guys check it out. Since this forum seems to be underused, I'll post more stuff soon.

I'm Perm motherfucker, now listen up and listen good. Your main synth could use a little more warmth and I don't know if you were going for that choppy vidya sound but you went heavy as fuck on the bitcrusher on your melody there. If you were trying to give it an edge on distortion try using something like the D16 Devastator. Your kick needs work, it sounds like you're trying to sidechain the bassline off the kick but it sounds off because your kick is really tame.

I'm curious what your EQ is set at for your bassline and your kick. Set your kick to about 81 Hz with a little sub on it, send the signal out to a bus with a compressor ( preferably FET ) and play around with increasing the signal back on that bus to give your kick some punch. Your kick should be bottoming the fuck out. Set a low cut on your bassline at about 120 Hz so your kick and bassline don't sound as muddled. If you aren't sidechaining your bassline off your kick you should, but not so obvious that it sounds like Daft Punk circa 97.

Now, some people like to layer kicks and have a low pass on their main kick at about 90 Hz and then create another kick with a high pass and an EQ at about +3-5 dB on 800ish~ Hz and 5-8k Hz to give it more punch. Some like just tweak the shit out of one kick to make it sound great. Your call. If you're going for that distorted feel you may want to throw some warmth on the kick using a mixture of compressors, bitcrushing, and distortion plugins.

Also, fuck Ableton that's some pussy shit use Logic Pro like a fucking boss and have your dickhole resting on a different set of asian titties every single night like yours truly.

*I listened to this on my studio headphones and not my studio monitors because fuck you

Perm doesn't do bass drops either so I'm not sure you should listen to him.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

Fucking lol, not only do I understand what you're saying, the way you brought it was just pure BG poetry.

I deliberately went for the heavy bitcrush approach as an experiment. My kick is kinda flat (it's not layered either), but I liked the sound. Although your way of giving it some more oomph could work well. I am sidechaining the bassline, I'm glad it's not that obvious. Does it sound muddled? Could be (my ear isn't trained enough), I'll check out the EQ settings and follow your advice. Thanks for the listen and the feedback, really appreciated. Also delivery 10/10, would read again and again.

Edit: you got soundcloud or anything similiar? I'm curious now.
