Chrome and Malware

I accidentally downloaded malware on my work computer like a month ago, but got it all removed and extensions removed from Chrome, however, when I came in the morning a new extension had been added. I'm wondering if what may have happened is if I opened Chrome at home (a month ago and before I removed the extensions) could the malware have moved through Chrome to my home Mac, then back to my work computer back through Chrome again?

Sorry I'm sure this is confusing.

If you sign into Chrome at both places, then yes the addons will follow you from Chrome to Chrome (it states this if you add one when not signed in, it recommends you to sign in so they'll be available at your other chrome)
