Battlestar Galactica Regional Blu Ray Question

So I'm not entirely sure if this belongs here or in Entertainment, so mods please move it if necessary.

Amazon has a great deal on the whole BSG series on blu-ray for 60 bucks. In reading reviews though it seems some (if not all) versions of this UK region release have some grainy or poorly encoded episodes. Trying to see if any tech heads can explain if this is intentional or noticeable compared to the broadcast version and why.

Just to clarify, I am in the states and feel fine about these playing on a ps3/4. I'm mostly concerned if paying an extra 60 bucks for the US blu-ray release is better for picture quality or if people are making issues with the UK release for no reason.

This isn't necessarily relevant to your question but something else I would check into if it matters to you - The US release doesn't contain all the TV footage. There are some scenes missing that were cut from the home video releases. That may or may not apply to the UK versions.

One guy states the same for the more expensive (US) release too:

The video quality is so inconsistent it drives me nuts!! One scene will be great, then the next will be sub-par, and some scenes even suck. White speckles in some scenes are evident, almost less than DVD quality. Then others are perfect. I was very dissapointed with this inconsistencey. Season one is the worst...the opening scene of the mini series on the neutral station for cylon/human negotions was HORRIBLE. They should be embarrased for this poor quality. Luckily, the rest of the scenes are not this bad, but some will come close.

Perhaps, if you have the DVD sets, then keep it and save your money. You'll be hard pressed to justify the cost on these blu-rays.

UK version was the most complete. A few spin offs and tv movie weren't included as they were different licenses as I recall. Its been trending off and on for $40/45.

I'm not talking about Razor or any of that. There are specific scenes dotted throughout the series that are missing. I didn't notice it until I rewatched it on Netflix.

Tyrol's last scene in the end is cut, where he talks about going to the highlands to be away from "everyone". His last scene then becomes him killing Tory, which is kind of a bitch way to end his involvement in the show.

I did some research and discovered that Netflix basically just uploads whatever is provided to them on discs, and that's what you watch, so if the home video version is missing scenes (as it is in this case), then too bad.

Just as an update: Went ahead and ordered the UK version for 50 bucks. Got it in today. If you don't have the series yet and are a fan, this is the set to get. Nice and compact packaging, has all the episodes + Razor, extended unaired versions of most season finales, saves over 100$, and I don't see what people were moaning about in terms of graphical downgrades. Runs fine on my PS3, but my PS4 did have a few hiccups. Didn't seem to be anything wrong with the disc, my system just didn't like it.
