How drops work in weird fights

I have no clue where this question would go, so I'm just going to make a thread for questions about fights with weird drop mechanics.

For example: How do drops work in the NQ level 75 Waking the Beast? As in, does TH help with drops on Carbuncle Prime? Or is it just random.

Each party/alliance member up to 18 has a small chance to get a random item while viewing their cutscene. If they do, it's added to the pool. Hence why getting anything at all solo is very rare

Nope, nothing actually drops from any of the carbies, the reward is added to the pool automatically during the cutscene (if there is one)

It wont hurt...I doubt anyone has gotten a 1000 sample size of Waking the Beast with and without TH3 to tell anything for sure.

It doesn't need a sample size, nothing actually drops from any enemy at any time. Same reason you don't need a sample size for opening a BCNM chest. Treasure hunter just doesn't do anything.

It is more than likely TH does nothing, but we don't know the mechanics behind the scenes for this BCNM only that it differs from the usual mechanics.

The loot pool could be calculated behind the scenes as you kill the mobs then added to the pool at the end

Except there's no precedent since treasure hunter has never worked like that in the history of the game. We already know how treasure hunter works. It's a debuff, applied to an enemy that drops things. Hence it only works on enemies that drop things. Carbuncle Prime does not drop anything. Ever.

Pray tell, if treasure hunter "works" in Waking the Beast, why does an alliance of 18 SMN/RDM get 3-4 drops almost every time, while a solo THF almost never gets an item, and NEVER gets more than 1? I'd love to know how treasure hunter is helping with that. Also please tell me any other instance where

It may not hurt to bring a THF, but it's pointless. Just like it may not hurt to do any other number of dumb superstitions but it still isn't going to help either

The items in this BC don't drop directly from mobs, if TH did anything it would have to be programmed in as a special check.

If you think moon phase, tachi-koki, ebon panels, etc. don't effect this BC please provide hard data not hearsay.

The proof was that I've done Waking the Beast countless times in alliances back in the day with 0 treasure hunter and multiple items always drop and while soloing on THF items almost never drop and when one item occasionally does drop, it it always one, NEVER two. If that's not proof of treasure hunter doing jack shit I don't know what it is. This isn't a normal BCNM. The way it gives items is unique, and if you had ever done it yourself instead of questioning someone with actual experience, you would know.

Because each person has a chance to roll on a drop. There is no way to get two items from 1 person afaik.

That however does not mean that a TH check is not performed. It is not impossible bu far
